This was the first pub I got drunk in as I only lived round the corner in eyhurst ave and It used to be a good darts pub in the late 60's early 70's and hosted a few good acts as well in the lounge suite and I remember seeing Mike Reed there before he was in the tv series the comedians and got famous after that!

This pub always had a bit of a reputation, you know the thing - local "faces". The Elm Park was the only drinking hole in Elm Park but no more. It has now closed down (no surprise) and is now being turned into a Sainsbury's.

Closed down

I have lived just around the corner from this place for the last couple of months.
Having frequented the Elm Park on occasions, it’s an unloved barn of a place. The film; One flew over the cuckoos nest, comes to mind when describing the Elm Park. Regulars taking there medication, dispensed by nurse Ratchet behind the bar, in the form of the strongest lager. If you are planning a visit my advice is no eye contact with anyone in the bar. Last time I went in, the bloke next to me at the bar asked for a pint of whatever was coming out of the fosters tap today. Most definitely not foster.

This pub has to be one of the worst in the area. Popped in there the other day whilst waiting for a train. Its the pits. Its a massive pub with only about 6 people in it. I think that speaks for itself. It was dirty, unfriendly and not somewhere I would consider going back to! The locals looked like there were all related and on benefits! (you know the type) Definatley somewhere to avoid!

This is my local and I've been in it once. The staff weren't exactly friendly and the decor is minimal. Ok if you like white walls. and white people.

The BNP had a meeting in this pub. Suggest all normal people avoid this pub like the plague and please only go here if you like Hitler.

not suprised about tonight, it does not serve the community unless there is some monetary gain,(clamping) have tried several times to enjoy with friends, but it has mainly the same undesireable people, the cling ons in life who have been banned elsewhere, with afew exceptions of coarse, will try again in the hope that it improves but it has a bad reputation.

The police presence was for an EGM of the BNP. The choice of venue must speak volumes about this pub.

Armed police and police vans outside something serious this Sunday.

What a dump......This pub has the potentially to be fantastic, but its just awful.

I understand that it has just been taken over by yet another landlady/landlord - and also understand from the locals that they have been clamping their own customers! Nice!

Place is dirty, toilets are filthy, and the place is generally unwelcoming, its a huge pub and should be very popular, considering that there arent many other pubs that are nearby.....

Save yourself the trip and carry on one more stop on the tube and go to the 'Railway' right next to Hornchurch station.

I live locally and yet again there is new management, nice young couple, have just done up the lounge bar and are going to spend a load of more cash on the main bar in the new year. Chav locals are down, kids are out. its getting better all the time.

Do not get me wrong, still a nutter magnet but heading in the right direction.

I used to run this place about 6 years ago.
No trouble and a good crowd.... what happened?
johnnypalmer - 29 Jan 2007 01:50
At least you get a please and a thank you. Which is more than you got from the last management. I wish the new management all the best in the future.
EastendBender - 27 Jan 2007 15:51
This pub is under new management, a family who seem very friendly. They have made a lot of changes already, mainly removing the benches from outside and locking the gates round the back. I haven't seen anyone hanging around anymore.

Inside, it is now strictly over 21s. No dealers or chavs on fruities anymore. Seems the family could do a lot to the place.

Lets hope they turn it around.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I GOT ATTACKED OUTSIDE OF THIS PUB BY A GROUP OF TWENTY CHAVS. AVOID AVOID!!!!!
King_Kong - 10 Dec 2006 03:56
The whole clientele is on benefit. This place is a dump and dangerous. No point in them holding a quiz night here then.

this is the worse pub in havering , after 9pm you get all the local chavs in and out of the pub all hanging around on the transport of choice .... a petrol powered hairdryer , went in here the other day during the day and the local interbreeds stopped and stared at me , had a quick bottle n scarpered , this is the only pub in elm park town centre and thus gets filled with all the scum of the area , spose to being regenerated the area i mean but dont look like it

Apart from being the worst pub in Havering, it has the dirtiest toilets in England. The seating instead of being of material is more like tarmac, the whole place is disgusting.
EastendBender - 26 Jan 2006 14:50
Probably the worst pub in Havering. People who inhabit it are either too young to drink or are on benefit. Beer is awful.

A huge place - I imagine it might have been very good say 20 or 30 years ago. It certainly isn't now.
