The Cricketers, Hartley Wintney

Oh Dear, Greg has left taking his lovely French partner with him. Widescreen TV (Sky Sports etc) has come in and the local yobs seem to have reappeared.
There is a temporary landlady in charge at present who seems to match the clientel. One can only hope that the owners get someone in soon to restore this pub to it's previous high standard. The restaurant seems to have taken a turn for the worse as well.

The Hand and Flowers, Marlow

Not a pub, just an expensive restaurant. We went here for Sunday lunch. Nouvelle Cuisine is alive and well here in that the portions are tiny although beautifully presented. Service was very slow and it took over an hour for our pudding to be served after the main course was cleared and then a further half hour for the bill to arrive after being asked for three times. Food is very expensive for what you get as you will still feel hungry when you leave. If you get away with less than 40 per head you are doing well. Can't comment on the beer as we didn't have any.

The Fisherman's Rest, Lymington

Nice place but more of a Bistro than a pub. Friendly staff and good service but you are paying restaurant prices for the food. Good selection of beer. Shame it's so expensive.

The Fusion Inn, Lymington

Went there for the first time the other day. Not much atmosphere but the food (Thai/Chinese) was pretty good. It was a good job they were'nt busy as only two staff were on and they seemed to disappear out the back quite often so getting served was a bit of a mission. Only one real ale on sale (Ringwood). Bit disappointing overall.

The Albany, Guildford

Went last night after reading a good review of the food in the local paper. Have to say we were disappointed. Pub has been refurbished but is now a bit austere, especially in the dining area where some candles on the tables would have helped. Good beer but the food was basic and the menu choices unimaginative. For a so called gastro pub this place does not hit the mark. You need something more interesting than the usual Steak, Ribs & Burgers. No sign of the stews & casseroles mentioned in the review! The guy on the acoustic guitar was good though!

The White Horse, Hedgerley

One of the best for real ales with a huge selection which varies daily. Forget the food which is not great but just go for the beer. The staff are friendly and the clientel mixed. The beer festivals get very busy but are definitely worth visiting. Bring a non-drinking driver though.

The Crown Inn, Southampton

Great pub not surprisingly frequented by loads of students from the nearby Highfield Campus. Beers are good and the food is even better, all at good value for money as well. Top class barmaids and cracking service. The furniture has seen better days but who cares!

The Chestnut Horse, Easton

Lovely pub in a superb location. Have eaten here six times and never been disappointed. Good real ales as well.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Winkfield

Good pub with some decent real ales and good home cooked food at reasonable prices.

Royal Oak, Yateley

Modernised one large bar pub frequented by a young crowd. Sky sports, Pool, no decent real ales. Get the picture?

Lovely Pub where the landlord (Greg) is trying really hard to create a village atmosphere. Very friendly staff and good guest beers. They have put a small French restaurant on one side of the pub and the food is great.(and good value). They have a quiz nite and curry on alternate Sunday nights for a fiver. Just the place to watch cricket from in the Summer as well.
