De Hems, Soho

I love this pub, everytime I visit I am never disappointed. Brillant range of Belgium beers both on draught and bottled. Good quality and reasonable priced bar food. Well worth seeking out.

The Duke of Argyll, Soho

Typical Sam Smiths pub. Quality beer at reasonable prices no Fosters, Stella Artois, Guinness etc. Friendly service. Didn't order any food.

15 Mar 2008 09:42

The Old Coffee House, Soho

Nice cosy pub in central London. The Bric a Brac adds to the pubs atmosphere. Friendly bar service. Had a pint of Sussex bitter that was okay. Worth the short walk from Carnaby Street. Serves food but while I was there no one had placed any orders.

15 Mar 2008 09:37

The Shakespeare's Head, Soho

Nothing much to say about this pub. Bar service was friendly but both pints that I ordered were short. Alot of people had ordered food which looked okay. I personally would seek out a better pub in the area.

15 Mar 2008 09:34

The Market Porter, Borough

what a pub for the real ale drinker. Good range of ales served in a traditional English pub. Always busy when I visit, but there is always plenty of staff serving behind the bar.

8 Feb 2008 15:09

The Globe, London Bridge

Crossed the market from the busy Market Porter pub. Wondered why it was empty..........this is because it's rubbish. Was going to order a pint of bitter than thought better as a customer was compalining about his pint of Bombardier. No effort was made by the bar staff to rectify the problem. After drinking up I returned to the much better Market Porter.

9 Jan 2008 13:43

John Wallace Linton, Newport

Busy when the Dragons are playing at home. Close to the railway station. Good range of real ales on.

19 Nov 2007 09:13

The Lincolnshire Poacher, Nottingham

Worth making the short walk from the city centre. Good range of real ales.
Look out for the cat who answers back when told off by the bar staff!!

19 Nov 2007 09:11

The Bell Inn, Nottingham

Absolute cracking pub. Good range of real ales on; perhaps the best in Nottingham. Tours of the caves beneath the pub take place on a Tuesday evening.

19 Nov 2007 09:09

The Walrus and Carpenter, Monument

Good range of real ales served in a cosy clean pub. Didn't order any bar food, but the menu seemed to reasonable. My only critism is that when I ordered a pint of real ale, I always had to ask for it to be toppped up.

7 Nov 2007 09:29

The Punch And Judy, Covent Garden

Drab, over priced pub and service without a smile. There are alot better pubs in the area. The only redeeming feature for this pub is that it is a good meeting place.

7 Nov 2007 09:26

The Jack Horner, Tottenham Court Road

Good range of real ales and lagers. Friendly bar staff. They are currently taking bookings for Christmas!!

21 Aug 2007 08:33

The Fitzrovia, Goodge Street

What can you say about a pub that does not have any rela ale on? Is this bad cellarmanship? I thought this pub was disappointing.

21 Aug 2007 08:31

Fitzroy Tavern, Fitzrovia

Good quality and value pub food, cracking beers, a real gem of a pub.

21 Aug 2007 08:29

The Flower Pot Hotel, Sunbury on Thames

Funny pub, weird barstaff, beer okay. Perfect pub if you want to have a quiet pint.

18 Aug 2007 15:48

The Magpie, Sunbury on Thames

Prompt friendly service. Always has three real ales on. Worth avisit if in the area.

18 Aug 2007 15:45

The Olde Plough Inn, Bere Ferrers

Family friendly pub with a beer garden, childrens menu is limited. Has two guest real ales and local cider. Friendly service. Parking can be tricky.
Nice views across the estuary, a pleasant place at sunset.

18 Aug 2007 15:27

The Sun Inn, Barnes

A good range of draft beers. Didn't order any food so couldn't tell you how long you had to wait for your order. The food looked nice but was perhaps a little over priced.

Service at the bar was fine, but this was during the late afternoon. I would definately visit again.

12 Jun 2007 13:27

The Trout, Hammersmith

The only reason you visit this pub is if you are meeting people prior to attending the Hammersmith Apollo.

I was advised by a barmaid that I was better off ordering a bottled beer, so plenty of ice could be put in the hot glasses as no one had been collecting empty glasses and a washing cycle had just finished.

To compound matters both gents cubicles were out of order.

This pub is a disgrace and badly run.

12 Jun 2007 13:25

The Kings Head, Earls Court

A brillant pub. Absolutely packed at 5pm on a Friday afternoon. Good range of real ale and lagers on draft. My only critism is that there are not enough bar staff to deal with the amount of customers. It was 2-3 deep at the bar and the staff really struggled. Customers were getting frustrated at the amount of time it took to be served.

12 May 2007 10:18

Baroosh, Staines

Was surprised by this place, not really my scene !!
Had a lovely pint of Pauliner on draught. Had some food that I felt was good value. Would not be against going back here.

8 Mar 2007 15:32

The Thornbury Castle, Marylebone

Lovely little pub. Was able to sit outside in the early spring sunshine, just watching the world walk / drive by. Good range of beer & lager. Didn't eat. A lot better than other pubs in the area.

8 Mar 2007 15:28

Orange Tree, Richmond

Agree this is a funny pub, service is quick; a minor gripe that a barman rather than let me of 5p off the price of a round (totalling 15.05) insisted in giving me 95p worth of change. No atmosphere to speak of, but a good place to meet close to the station.

30 Nov 2006 14:49

The Bar, Instow

Well run family friendly pub, good range of beers, friendly service. Food looked very nice, though I didn't order any. Seating out the front and down the side of the pub.

2 Sep 2006 08:51

The Sun, Richmond

Cracking little Fullers pub. Had on the full range of Fullers beers. Very pleasant to visit in the afternoon, sit at the bar, and watch the Sky cricket coverage.

30 Mar 2006 21:54

The Swan Hotel, Staines

Just had a re-fit. Pub is cosy and had two log fires burning when I visited. Serves the full range of Fullers beers; had on Honey Dew last night. Also stocks Belgium beers on tap and bottled. Food was delivered quickly after ordering. My only gripe was that I had to ask to have my pint filled to the line, this should be done without asking.

30 Mar 2006 21:49

The White Cross, Richmond

Nice little pub, the Landlord seemed to be behaving himself when I visited though he ignored my comment about it not being cheap to drink bitter anymore. Lovely in the evening with the fire and not too smoky.
Toilets clean and tidy possibley installed after the pub was flooded a couple of years back.

5 Feb 2006 14:34

The Angel and Crown, Richmond

Cosy little pub, well served Fullers beer. Love the back snug with the fireplace and sofas.

5 Feb 2006 14:28

The Mulberry Bush, Lambeth

Popped in during the afternoon okay for a quick drink. Bit on the expensive side 2-80 for a pint of winter warmer. The bar was clean and tidy, quick service. Would visit again.

31 Jan 2006 14:35

The George, Temple

OK pub, had a pint of well served Timothy Taylor - Landlord. Didn't have to wait long for my food.

13 Jan 2006 11:36

The Devereux, Temple

A good pub just to pop into. Had a good range of real ales on. Didn't order any food. Service was a bit slow, but when my friend enquired about a beer he was offered a free sample. Thought it excellant that half the downstairs bar is marked No Smoking.

13 Jan 2006 11:32

The Figure of Eight, Birmingham

Typical Wetherspoons with mixed customers. Well kept real ales, service can be slow.

3 Dec 2005 12:11

The Tap and Spile, Birmingham

Awful pub, well worth avoiding. Needs decorating and a re-fit, a very attractive burn on a curtain where the local arsonist had once sat greeted me when I entered from the canal side. That said the Barman was friendly whilst the landlord was a grumpy so and so and couldn't wait to get rid of my party.

3 Dec 2005 12:07

The Barrowboy and Banker, London Bridge

Well kept Fullers beers, has on the seasonal 'Jack Frost' at the moment. Prompt service at the bar, didn't have to wait too long for our food which was surprising as it was a Friday lunchtime.
The upstairs part of the pub is for reservations.

3 Dec 2005 12:03

The Hobgoblin, Staines

Funny pub, cliential are mixed with young and old alike. Had a range of beers on from 'Church End Brewery' all very drinkable. Juke box plays loud rock music and there were two TV's on showing sport. One of the better pubs in the town center.

27 Nov 2005 11:01

The George, Staines

Now open until midnight during the week and 1 a.m. at weekends. There is no atmosphere in this pub at all, but as previous posts have stated it's cheap and has a good range of real ales, there were eight on last night including beers from Everards and Dorset brewery.

27 Nov 2005 10:52

The Fawn Pub, Windsor

Visited very briefly on a Friday afternoon, had the usual range of beers but surprisingly no draft 'real ale' (had two pump clips turned round)asked Barman if any bitter was going to be put on he replied that the only bitter available was Tetley's. Pub okay and interior clean, car park is a bit tight though.

9 Oct 2005 11:32

The Woolpack, London Bridge

Good range of drinks, including Hooegarden and Leffe on draught. Food menu excellant, though waiting for your order can be slow. Gets very busy Friday lunchtime.

24 Sep 2005 10:40

The Wellington, Waterloo

Lots of screens put up for football. Busy pub, but with lots of space. Staff were attentive and didn't have to wait to be served. Ordered a pint of Pedigree which was disgusting, left half of it. Personally I would go to the 'Fire Station' or 'The Hole In The Wall' both up the road if I could choose.

11 Sep 2005 08:31

The Fire Station, Waterloo

I was surprised when I visited this pub. I was expecting the usual range of beers, but they had on Paulener, Staropramen & Hogaarden and two real ales (though served through swan neck dispensers). Didn't eat, but was given a portion of complimentary peanuts!! More staff were put behind the bar as the evening progressed. Didn't think that it was over priced.

11 Sep 2005 08:27

Pommelers Rest, Tower Bridge

Popped in for a quick beer. This is the first no smoking pub I have been to and found it nice that when I came out I didn't smell like an astray. Had 4 real ales on accompanied by 4 lagers. Pub was clean and the staff attentive. Worth seeking out if you have a family as children are allowed in.

25 Jul 2005 22:11

The Prince's Head, Richmond

Popped in last night, 14 July, for a couple of quick beers. Had on the new Fullers brew, Discovery, very tastie. There was a cricket match being played on the green, was able to enjoy the beer in glass, not plastic whilst sitting on the grass watching the game. Wife didn't like the interior of the pub, I thought it was alright. I think this pub is better than it's neighbour 'The Cricketers'.

15 Jul 2005 19:27

The Black Lion, Hammersmith

Well worth popping in on your way out of London. Car park is small but there is metered street parking. Sat in the beer garden and enjoyed a couple of pints of draught San Miguel. Also had on 3 real ales including Bombardier. Have eaten there in the past, and thought it of good quality.

15 Jul 2005 19:21

The Jack Horner, Tottenham Court Road

Very crowded early evening. Good range of Fullers beers. What I found a problem was that the people who were standing at the bar did not make an effort to get out of the way or make any space for you to get to the bar. So you had to lean over them and shout over the top of their conversations, very frustrating.

12 Jun 2005 11:08

The Surrey Oaks, Newdigate

Good range of real ales and varied menu (with specials), has a childrens menu also. Playground for the kids and an aviary!! Well worth seeking out as this pub is in the middle of nowhere. Had a beer festival due to start with 30+ ales available. Had a meal and a few beers after booking into a hotel near Gatwick Airport. Friendly bar staff. Very good pub, I will definately return.

4 Jun 2005 11:33

The White Horse, Graffham

Popped in for a quick beer with the family whilst staying at the nearby Camping & Caravanning Club site. Pub has a restaurant in a conservatory to the rear. Beer garden to the rear with seating available at the front also. Plentiful parking. Children are allowed in the dining area of the pub, restaurant and beer garden. Surprised that the pub had 4 real ales on - Tanglefoot and Midhurst Mild amongst them. Friendly greeting from the Landlord.

9 May 2005 20:46

The Druid's Head, Kingston Upon Thames

Popped in yesterday, Friday, afternoon for a couple of quick beers. The pub is just about to be refitted so will be closed from the 22/4 to the 5/5, I think !! They are currently running down their beer stock, so there was no real ale. They had the usual range, Stella, Fosters, Guiness etc. What draws me here is that they serve Hoegaarden (3-25 a pint, very reasonable). Both pints I had were not quite chilled enough. Was served promptly both times. Will be interested to see what the pub looks like after the refit. I'm not going to rate this pub until after the refit!!

23 Apr 2005 11:16

The Three Magpies, Heathrow

Visited the pub today. The pub has recently been refurbished so is alot brighter and tidier. Service was awful, had to wait a long time to be served. Ordered a pint of IPA, which didn't taste of anything, had to ask for the pint to be filled to the top of the glass. I stand by my earlier submitted comments. Avoid.

24 Mar 2005 21:12

The Swan Hotel, Staines

This is a Fullers Hotel. Good food and separate dining area; pub does get busy. Beer range can be limited though, always has London Pride on, but not always other Fullers brews. Worth seeking out for a quite pintin the afternoon. Friendly bar staff, pub wasn't too smoky when I visited.

21 Mar 2005 14:59

The Bells, Staines

Entered the pub through the front door, was hit by the smell of stale vomit. Put it down to a bit of bad luck. Went to the side bar, waited 5 minutes to be served, (See Zod's comments)walked out, and went to the Swan on the other side of Staines bridge.

21 Mar 2005 14:54

The Castlenau, Barnes

Popped in for a few beers, prior to going to a gig at the Hammersmith Apollo. Can not complain about the beer range at all, plenty of draft and bottled beers. Had the chocolate stout, which is absolutely lovely!! Smells like drinking chocolate powder. Worth checking out if in the area, pub was not busy at all, but I did visit late afternoon during the week. Pub was clean. Bar staff were friendly and attentive.

20 Mar 2005 10:33

The Cricketers, Cobham

Popped in on a Saturday lunch time. Didn't order any food as the queue was too long. Had to wait about 8 minutes to get served as there was only two barmaids serving / collecting empties/ setting up tabs / taking drinks to tables etc. Had my pint of London Pride served in what I would call a flower vase. The lit log fire gave a nice cosy atmosphere. This is a good pub but lacks on a lot different aspects.

15 Mar 2005 08:53

The Porterhouse, Covent Garden

Probably the best selection of worldwide beers under one roof in central London. Has a TV screen for sport, but is not imposing. Good, attentive bar staff looking for people to serve and clearing up empties. The cleanest toilets I have been in for ages!!

27 Feb 2005 09:55

The Misty Moon, Twickenham

OK for a quick beer on the way to Twickenham station or the rugby stadium. Good range of real ales and cheap. Nothing else to say about the place that hasn't already been said.

22 Feb 2005 17:07

The Eel Pie, Twickenham

A good real ale pub, had 4 ales and a guest on. Lots of rugby portraits on the wall and plenty of seating. Pub wasn't too smoky when last I visited. Worth seeking out if your in the area, in warmer weather there is bench seating on the street outside.

22 Feb 2005 08:29

O'Neills, Shepherds Bush

Dropped in for a beer before seeing Thin Lizzy at the Shepherds Bush Empire. Pub was very busy, but the bar staff were on top of the situation so didn't need to wait too long to be served. There was also a couple of barmaids actively collecting empty glasses. Agree with travis, this is a typical O'Neills. Disco on a friday night, took my exit then. The only critism I have is that the bar is so long and the pub so busy that you can't see what beers are on. A well placed chalk board would be good.

5 Feb 2005 10:57

The Green, Shepherds Bush

Can get busy if QPR are playing or there is a concert at the nearby Shepherds Bush Empire. There is a downstairs bar / function room which holds about 40 people. Okay for a quick beer, but I wouldn't stay here for the whole evening.

5 Feb 2005 10:51

The Jerusalem Tavern, Clerkenwell

If you want real ale in a pub that is "back to basics" but nice and cosy, this is the place. No Fosters, Stella Artois, John Smiths etc. served here.
Well worth seeking out. The only pub I know of where people are standing on the pavement outside drinking in February. Can get smokie if busy.

5 Feb 2005 10:46

The Beehive, Brixton

I've only ever been in here before going to a gig at the Academy. It is always packed, takes an age to get served and the staff have a habit of not turning round the beer clips when a beer is 'off'. Worth seeking out other pubs in the area.

27 Jan 2005 13:54

The Canterbury Arms, Brixton

Good pub to meet up in pre gig. No problem getting served. Not overpriced. Has seating / standing outside.

27 Jan 2005 13:50

The Pheasant, Harlington

Pleasant pub, bar staff attentive. Ordered a pint of London Pride which was served chilled, so did not have any taste. One of the better pubs in the area, if staying near Heathrow Airport worth seeking out, better than the 3 Magpies on the Bath Road.
