My last here was in late 2001 so as I was in the area last week I was going to have a quick pint but it didn’t look that inviting.

On my next visit to SB I will stop for a quick one here to see if it’s better inside than it looks from the outside.

Use it occsionally for an early evening pint on the way home. Usually have a cheap beer , Doom Bar or Boondoggle at 2.45 pint which is a bargain round here. Beer kept well but pub has no atmosphere, that's early evening for you.

OK chain pub, v busy when i visited after a gig at the empire; much more characterful places a few hundred yards away down the Goldhawk Road

Didn't know, until I read it on here, that it was an ex- Spoons but it looks and feels exactly like one! Standard selection of ales at 2.80, which I guess is reasonable for the area. Very loud background music. Won't rush back.

Real ale is surprisingly good and cheap. Not tried the food, seems standard Wetherspoons-type stuff. The atmosphere can get a bit larey when there's an important game on and I could do without the screens. The staff appear friendly and efficient.
