The Inn on the Quay, Goodrington Sands

Visited with Hubbie on Sunday 16th Sept 2007. Very busy as we were there about 1pm. Had just started to rain so everyone decided to go for lunch I think!
I had the Sunday roast, choice of Chicken, Pork or Lamb. I had the lamb which was a little fatty for my liking. Served with half a large yorkshire pud, roast and boiled potatoes, chartenay carrots and peas. Had regular size for 7.99. Not bad, but not the best roast meal ever. Hubbie enjoyed his Chicken Tikka meal also at 7.99. We never had starters or pudding.

This pub is currently closed for refurbishment. It really needs it so hopefully they will buck up their ideas when they are back in business.A Harvester pub has recently opened up nearby (previously The Dog at Mappleborough Green)assume that's why they've decided on the Refurb.

The Golden Goose, Redditch

Takes a while to get served at the bar.
Visited at 1pm on Thursday 30th August with 4 friends from work. 4 of us had carvery and i ordered a sandwich. we paid for food and drink at the bar before sitting down. Its not very clear how the 'system' is meant to work. We did book a table in advance as it gets very busy. Its now called Golden Goose instead of Wild Goose. It has a child play area outside in garden and did seem to be geared towards encouraging children. The carvery itself had quite a good selection (either hot or cold). No cauliflower cheese on the day we went which was a bit disappointing. Food was nothing special, but at 4.25 at the time we went it was good value.

The Foxlydiate Arms, Redditch

Became one of the Brewers Fayre sometime ago and it was refurbished into a bright, spacious pub/restaurant. My favourite place (other than Yates)to eat at present. The largest beer garden I've ever seen. Great food with Nectar points too. If you fancy sleeping over its part of a well known hotel chain too.

This place definetly goes from one extreme to the other in terms of its food and service. It went through a brilliant phase whilst they were doing BOGOF on all main meals all day every day. Then it changed to a 'selected meals 2 for 10' whereby the staff became rude and unhelpful presumbably because their tips would have taken a nose dive cause they also changed it to 'order at the bar' instead of waitress service. During this phase I think the chef wasn't happy cause food wasn't very good. Stopped going for a while and then when we ventured back it was still the same 2 for 10 offers and order at the bar but the food and service wasn't as bad. Admittedly I still haven't been back for past 12 months.

Come to Wetherspoons quite a lot. You know the score....cheap drink....but at weekends prepare to queue for it as the bar is long and the staff have no idea whose actually next. Haven't liked the food in here for sometime though so stopped eating in here. You best go to Yates if you want food!

Yates's, Redditch

Eat here a lot as 2.50 worth of Tesco deal points means 10 worth of Yates' food!
Usually fairly quiet if we choose to eat at 4pm on a Sunday (hence free parking in Redditch too). Though be aware they stop serving food at 5pm on a Sunday. Not had to send any meal back yet, though if you don't ask for ice-cream with your chocolate pudding you may very well get aerosol can cream, even though the menu itself states ice-cream.
