The New Rose, Islington

I really like this pub. yes it's had a refurb but the beer is still good and the fire is still warm and the service is still friendly. It's a nice mix of cosy pub, not too shabby and not too islington

The Harrison, St Pancras / Kings Cross

A friendly pub with good food. It was pretty dead when we went, so I hope it survives. Seems a bit out of place in the area.

Bonds, Mayfair

heaving with football watching types and big screens inescapable both times i've been there. not even a major match...

The Prophet, Moorgate

feels a bit like an al bar one but without the slick service. nice enough setting but full of city types celebrating deals with big cigars and food very overpriced. Needs a menu revamp for the evenings. Wouldn't reccommend this.

The Narrow Boat, Islington

lovely sunny day spent there good sunday roast, friendly staff. Need to make up their minds though - was doen up all posh and family friendly for yuppy islington types, but then full volume aresenal match on. Two don't seem to go together to my mind.

The North One, Islington

How come this pub is sometimes empty when the Angelic is heaving? Had a lovely night there last night, friendly staff, warm surroundings, comfy sofas. They even made me a hot toddy!

The North Star, Hoxton

lovely pub, modern in style, but with big old tables and a good feeling to it.
PS: Check out the pole dancing stuido over the road....

The Bull's Head, Craswall

Fantastic real ales, incredible food, (strange enormous doorstep sandwiches called huffers) real log fires, perfect after a long walk, the kind of place you never want to leave.

The Bar and Dining House, Islington

went in, asked for a cocktail, was told it woud take them five minutes and they would bring it to me. ten minutes later went to the bar. They had forgotten. Ten minutes later still no drink! Went back again. They had forgotten again. Stood waiting to be noticed at the bar whilst six other people were served. Left. Never going back!

The Gunmakers, Clerkenwell

lovely little pub with friendly staff and cosy atmosphere. Food not quite as good as it should be for the price.

The Royal Oak, Clapham North

I like this place. Sure it is very Clapham, but clean, comfortable, good food and some very tasty men. Great place to meet before a cheesy night out at Inferno's!

Digress, Soho

Great for Happy hour cocktails. Gets noisy quite early so if you want a natter go elsewhere. Shame they use bottled lime int he Marghueritas though

The Londesborough, Stoke Newington

friendly, chilled, great beer, great food, comfy sofas, DJ brings atmosphere but doesn't drown you out. Love it!

8 Dec 2004 10:44

Defoe, Stoke Newington

a bit soulless and nothingy. Great sausages though

8 Dec 2004 10:42

Bar 98, Stoke Newington

Does what it says on the tin. Pulling joint with expensive drinks. One good point - it's so small that you might get to rub up against some totty even if you don't get to pull any.....

8 Dec 2004 10:36
