The Kings Head, Epping

Owned by retail giants M & B under the Vintage Inns group but by no means any worse for that.
My girlfriend and I went for lunch there recently on a bank holiday. The pub was therefore getting busier by the hour, but nonetheless our food (which was delicious) came out in very good time and I enjoyed my pint of Sharp's Doombar. Staff were also very friendly and efficient and the prices were very reasonable indeed. Would definitely go back.

The Hobgoblin, Canterbury

Great little boozer.
Quite appealing to the rocker/metaller crowd, good jukebox and always a great selection of real ale.
I slightly agree with imdownthepub about toilet cleanliness, but otherwise I disagree - if you spring clean the pub too much you risk depriving it of it's character, which is a key reason people go there.
And try the Thai food, it is excellent.

The Lady Luck, Canterbury

I've been drinking here for several months now and never had a bad night.
The ale there is London Pride and is usually in top condition. But it's the cider you really come here for: Stowford Press on tap and Weston's Organic bottled. In addition, there are student discounts from Sun-Thurs at certain times.
Very Rock n Roll decor, has an excellent jukebox with something for everyone but particularly rockers, metalheads, punks etc and is frequented by Canterbury's alternative community (but others are by no means excluded!) Staff are excellent, food is very tasty (I recommend the Ploughmans Burger) and it has an all round fantastic atmosphere, even if it's not very big inside.
Just make sure you behave - as simon85 said, they are quite strict about that and if you become threatening and/or abusive, they won't tolerate it.

The Barley Mow, Tandridge

I think the person below me might have just eaten there on a bad day because I enjoyed my meal when I last ate there, and the Tangle Foot on draught is also very agreeable, the others aren't bad either. Added to which, they have some of the best pork scratchings in town.

Last time I went there was live Jazz playing which, as far as I know, is now happening every fortnight.
All in all, this pub is certainly worth a visit.

The Beer Cart Arms, Canterbury

This place is more of a bar than a pub because:
(a) No real ale on draught
(b) There's a range of cocktails and shooters
(c) There's a shots bar open occasionally i think.

But still, I love this place - but only on certain nights. Cock Rock (now on Wednesday nights) and Hades (Goth/industrial/ebm/darkwave, 1st Sun of each month) I can recommend.

Ben Crouch's Tavern, Fitzrovia

Will definitely go back there again. The atmosphere is fantastic and the range of drinks available is very impressive. Not tried the food but I'm expecting a positive result.
