A lively vibrant pub in the middle of Canterbury. The beers are good, Long Blonde, Rockin Reliant plus Doom Bar on my latest visit.
The bar staff are very friendly and chatty.
Predominately used by students and younger people. There is live music on regularly.
The place is roughly divided in two with a bar to the left as you enter then more seats, a pool table and toilets out towards the back.

My local, I'm in here most days of the week, may be a little on the expensive but has some of the best character of all the pubs in Canterbury.
I highly recommend their ale (Doom Bar on tap and usually a second guest ale), cider (three to choose from Stowford Press, Addlestones and the Old Rosie), and cubans.

As a metalhead i can't think of anywhere better to meet friends, socialise and meet new interesting people, occasionally read a book if i've nothing to do during the day!

Excellent place to while away the hours

This pub is a welcome addition to Canterbury.
I have been in here numerous times and must say I find the staff friendly and always happy to have a chat, if you're sitting by yourself at the bar. The food is awesome and you definitely get your moneys worth when you order (I love the chicken burger).
The bouncer who works there is a friendly chap who always says hello and goodbye when you leave (think his name is Gary), however do not be rude or aggressive in there as the staff and bouncer do not stand for it and you will be thrown out. Excellent juke box (They even have Imelda May to Jonny Cash). All in all make this a pub to visit when you're in the city.

Great pub. We were in Canterbury for two nights and did two pub crawls. Both times we finished here - mostly because we didn't want to leave it.

Good beer and cider selection, and the quiz on Sunday night was loads of fun and the teams were not too competitive.

Friendly and fast staff as well. I wish this pub was closer to where I live.

Personally, I'd have to disagree with roger105. Esspecially as i've been coming to this pub 3-4 times a week since i moved down to Canterbury, I've always found the atmosphere to be really nice wether it's busy or quiet. The bar staff are amazingly friendly and always find time to hold down a conversation. If Tattoos, Piercings and the 'alternative' scene are you thing then this is definiatly the pub for you, but please don't think its exclusivly for rockers, students and metalheads as this pub has so much more to offer. The food is made fresh in the building and is always of the highest quality and is all competativly priced and the potions are definatly value for money.

All in all i'd have to say this pub is 100% through and through FANTASTIC.
