Berties Bar, Newquay

a typical seaside bar and hotel. can be a bit rowdy...the beer is quite expensive.

The Chequers, Marlow

very nice pub, good ales on offer and plenty of drinks offers on.

The Hand and Flowers, Marlow

very nice food if a little pricey. the three course lunch for 16.50 is brilliant, but a little more choice would be nice. good atmosphere.

The Hinds Head, Bray-on-Thames

the food here is not as good as i thought it would be. the hot pot was meant to be the best ever....not in my opinion. very expensive and relying on the name of the fat duck.

Wheatsheaf, Rudgwick

using the old use it or loose it tactic now. menu is very limited and still has no clear direction. i think sadly this one will fall by the wayside.

The Mucky Duck Inn, Tismans Common

this is a freehouse, and should be the best pub around. its not. the beer prices are high, and dont tell me he pays the same as all these tied pubs. food should keep to the pub grub idea as this suits the rural country pub theme. owners are very nice and genuine. with a few tweeks could and should outshine all local competition.

The Sir Roger Titchbourne, Alfold Bars

ThePilgrim seems to have a lot of issues.....keep slagging the country pubs we have got and guess what....they will all be gone with this nanny state. bet you are a public sector worker. how droll.

The Onslow Arms, Loxwood

went in over christmas and it was quite busy. the landlord is o.k pretty old school if you get my drift. beer is hall and woodhouse, which isn't the best. food average.

The Sir Roger Titchbourne, Alfold Bars

i like this pub for a drink and it is on a walk which is nice when i'm out with the dog. it is lovely to be able to take dogs inside, these days it is often frowned on. the food is basic, but not too expensive for the area.

The Crown, Alfold

yet another pub has fallen due to a pubco. the crown has now closed and the landlord has unfortunately gone bust. all thanks to green king. they will put some idiot in there now and loose a great publican. i wish people would hit these pubco's where it hurts them, in the pocket.

The Chequers Inn, Rowhook

have to say the food is pretty ordinary and not cheap.

i would say that the owners here really need to have some direction. is it a pub, a live music venue or an eatery? i do not believe you can do all things well together.

Bryces, Ockley

i agree the food here is very good, but what puts me off is the dog they own, walking behind the bar and in and out of the kitchen. is this allowed these days? puts me off a little.

The Bulls Head, Ewhurst

i agree this pub has lost its way and needs to be reinvented before it is left extinct like so many of our pubs and inns. the food is very 70's and is not well presented.

The Sun Inn, Dunsfold

not bad at all for a village local. 2.95 for shandy is good in my opinion.

18 Mar 2009 19:33

The Three Compasses, Alfold

the landlord is a real character, comes straight out of the 1970's. the beer is good.

The Crown, Alfold

o.k for a pint or two, not so sure this is the place to go for food?

Alfold Barn, Alfold

absolutely outstanding. this gastropub has no rivals, for quality and service. they do a two course lunch for 5....no this is not a misprint. one of surreys best kept secrets.
