The Grantley Arms, Wonersh

If it`s true it`s sold that`s fantastic news
I love it when smug arrogant people get their comeuppance, it looks like it`s happened here to two very snug arrogant people in fact kings of Smug & Arrogance.
I agree with the previous comment and hope the new people bring back the village pub feel.

29 Oct 2016 17:45

The Hurtwood Inn, Peaslake

It might be lovely in your little brain croydon, it doesn`t change the fact it`s still closing.

The Pride of the Valley, Churt

Always find this place very welcoming and staff mostly friendly its normally my turn to drive when we come here so only on soft drinks but my wife is always complementary about the wine, food is good and we love the location this is local to us and we use it once/twice a month.

18 Aug 2010 10:12

The Talbot Inn, Ripley

I smell a rat or is it that the staff have just found this site ( see last 3 one post wonders).
We found the place average all but the prices there are far better places to go near by.

16 Feb 2010 10:58

The Bulls Head, Ewhurst

thisistrue the pub changed hands about 2 years ago,if thats any help.

5 Jan 2010 13:39

The William Bray , Shere Guildford Surrey

This is more foodie than a good true village pub,its also quite an ugly building for this village.
The Doombar was on good form and there were a couple of other real ales on, we did not eat here as the menu was very average and nothing on it we fancied. 6/10
Wealdman I think your spot on ol chum.

22 Nov 2009 19:18

The White House, Guildford

Yes its a Fullers pub so if you like their beer your ok here, not seen a guest ale on any time i`ve called in. 6/10
Not an original pub as Beersupper has stated it`s true it was a solicitors for years.
Also Guildford is not a city.

22 Nov 2009 19:11

The George Abbot, Guildford

Called in the other day for the first time in a while not a bad town pub, Abbot ale in fine form, food reasonable same as the price.
As been said good for watching sport.
One of Guildfords better pubs.

17 Nov 2009 12:54

The Drummond Arms, Albury

Called in for a swift pint or two, 3 real ales on, all on good form.Food looked good did not eat this time round,Lovely garden sat watching the ducks do what ducks do.Will call agin.

12 Oct 2009 11:07

Scrumptious, Guildford

I can see the joke Pilgrim was getting at.I`d be very worried if I went into a place and everyone was walking around with a smile on their face i`d check I wasn`t in the funny farm!
This place lets its self ( and the whole of Guildford) down by the very tacky colour its been painted which is more suited to a chavs nail varnish.
Its not the fact its a gay bar it just looks so so cheap.

2 Aug 2009 10:09

The Anchor Inn, Godalming

Best wishes to the new guys who have just taken over.

1 Dec 2008 10:37

The Dog and Pheasant, Brook

Cambodi another newbie to the site !! Not sure i always believe newbies till they make more than one comment about different pubs, its always suspect when new people (or a chain in this case) take over a place and the pub site gets swamped with rave reviews.I agree this was a good country pub, will call in a week or so to see whats changed.

1 Dec 2008 10:34

The Holroyd Arms, Guildford

Good drinkers pub not cheap but you can have a good night out here. Not tried the food so no comment.

16 Sep 2008 17:15

The Weavers Arms, Guildford

Hmmm graham78 sorry to here the dart board has gone along with the pool table coz in my view thers no reason whats so ever of visiting this pub now,or has the location changed and its now got pleasant surroundings with a lovely view possibly lots of apple trees ???.
This pub caters for the locals and only the locals as no one would travel into the middle of an estate (unless lost, certainly not a person that knows the area) to visit this pub.
Don`t try and make out this pub is something its not thats not what this site`s about, it`s as Biker says "say it as it is".
I also notice you don`t drink or eat in any other pubs i would suggest you get out more (unless of course your tagged) and stop sniffing the land ladys apron. 2/10

16 Sep 2008 17:12

The Queen Victoria, Shalford

Change of ownership on the way,i have always found this a good drinking pub.

16 Aug 2008 12:43

14 Aug 2008 11:35

The Inn On The Lake, Godalming

Agree hello1973 on the M&B bit but not on the Refectory (which we found to be AWFUL).This place is over priced and at 4.2/10 well over rated.

13 Aug 2008 12:03

The Royal Standard, Colliers Wood

Buy your own beers you tight git.

9 Aug 2008 16:41

The Inn on The Hill, Haslemere

1 Aug 2008 10:20

The Seahorse, Shalford

It used to be a lovely PUB now it`s an over priced restaurant.Staff are a mixture some friendly and some not.You don`t get the villages in here so a ocal it can`t be.We travel on to the village edge,Wonersh or Bramley.

20 Jun 2008 21:39

The Guildford Hotel, Guildford

Still got the large white horse outside so it should still be called The White Horse hotel to call it The Guildford Hotel is an insult to Guildfordians as its this place is pants it used to be quite classy not no more.

5 Jun 2008 18:19

The Jolly Farmer, Runfold

We have been to this pub a couple of times now and always found the staff friendly, service good, beer and wine fine.

13 Apr 2008 17:24

The Crown, Alfold

Had a lovely couple of hours in here the other night the beer was on top form, the garden looks good for the summer if we get one.

9 Apr 2008 13:58

The Sun Inn, Dunsfold

My My Simonkey touchy touchy, on the pub, the pint i had (it might have been a half as it had such a big head on it don`t have a fit only joking)was fine same as the wine, we had no problem with the prices (its Surrey don`t you know).
But i will stick with my first comment on both points and your comments after go a long way to proving them correct.
ps were did i put down the pub any how???

9 Apr 2008 13:54

Went passed today the place is compleatly closed down just waiting for the boards to go up.Not a great place in fact awful but it`s still another pub gone by the wayside.

3 Apr 2008 15:36

Farriers, Guildford

Have got to say the answer to ThePilgrims comment seemed a bit arrogant to me.
I have known this pub for some little while 2/3000 people never got in here in a year let alone a week are we stretching the truth here??
On our visit it was very quiet had a drink and went to another pub (Royal Oak)with more going on.

23 Mar 2008 09:47

Strange the last 3 people to comment on this pub only use one place to drink and make good comments about is it the landlords family or staff mmmmm i wonder!!
We found this pub an average village bozzer nothing great.

30 Jan 2008 18:53

Fahrenheit 55, Guildford

This is not a bad bar its just toooo small and yes it does kick off in here every now and then. But if you want to have a late drink its your kind off place.

6 Dec 2007 19:49

The Kings Arms Royal Hotel, Godalming

It is closed temp. for referb.big big place but has been tierd for years & years.

And years.

2 Nov 2007 10:31

The King Alfred, Godalming

The place to me always looks like something out of the Adams family estate. Scary!!!!!!!!!!

1 Nov 2007 19:54

The Barley Mow, The Sands

Called as we were passing felt a bit hungry ordered our food finished it all and still felt hungry,so i would agree with Stroller. We would have to order about 3 mains each to fill us up and we arn`t very big eaters. It`s not cheap for food or drink but the place is clean except when you get a smelly dog near you.
As for the best pub for miles around yes i have to agree with Anne as well as its the only pub for miles.

1 Nov 2007 19:47

The Red Lion, Milford

Just been taken over .Watch this space.

18 Oct 2007 19:21

The Star, Witley

What a change the refurb has made i think its very well done. The food we all had was good the drinks were also. Not the cheapest place but well worth the money.

18 Oct 2007 19:18

The Old House at Home, West Wittering

Once again the pub staff come in as anonymous and only 10mins apart mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm possibly 2/10s a bit high!!

5 Oct 2007 17:34

The Three Pigeons, Guildford

Such a shame another of Guildfords oldest pubs bites the dust to turn into an eating house Trad. is going down the pan.

30 Sep 2007 14:19

The Red Lion, Shamley Green

On our visit the wait for food was awfull over an hour ,we dont mind waiting if you know there is a wait but not to be told and then the food comes out cold,we found it not good enough.

13 Aug 2007 10:07

The Royal Oak, Pirbright

We have visited this pub 3/4 times, first time about 3years ago it was a lovely place to come but since then its gone down hill, we come back thinking it can`t get any worse but it does. The service is very poor and thats being polite, beer is not good and food is yuck or should i say Brake Bros bling and fling (and fling it you should).
The last comment you can take little or no notice of as they cant even put there name to it. 3/10

13 Aug 2007 09:51

The Albany, Guildford

Called in here for a quick pint the other day (Lager i might say)which was fine, the decor is clean and tidy.I personally would not eat in any pubs in Guildford so no comment.
Anonymous 7th.Aug. i wish you had put your name to your valid comment,I totally agree with you i look on this site and some peoples views i go by Biker being one and Beersupper being another i find people like this say it as it is ( it might piss a few people off but you have to crack a few eggs and all that).
Going back to The Albany this is one of the better pubs in Guildford there are a lot of crap ones.

8 Aug 2007 11:37

The Star, Godalming

Can anyone tell me is SYD and bestpubbloke one and the same person looks like it from here.
I get a little naffed off when people talk down to others and the last comment does that alright.
On our visit to the pub we found it not bad for a town pub, beer choice ok food smelt nice but we drank not here for food so wil leave the comments on that to others.

22 Jul 2007 17:14

Worplesdon Place Hotel, Worplesdon

We called in here on the off chance as we where passing and feeling a bit peckish, decor average much the same as many referb`s we found it not very warm and inviting, must say garden is a lovely setting as already said.We all found the menu typical of a chain restaurant nothing to write home about also on the expensive side.Larger was resonable beer average soft drinks poor range, service slow in fact poor. Not being able to eat out on the lawn is plain daft but health and safty and all that rubbish.
I think Guildforddrinker is possibly spot on about some of the comments comming from the staff as it seams this is the only place they write about..mmmmm

19 Jul 2007 19:28

The Withies Inn, Compton

Bugger i must be an old fart because i like this place it takes you back to"the good old days".
We sat outside and ordered off the bar menu which was fine the staff were friendly and service good.
So ChrisF i have joined the club.

9 Jun 2007 16:57

The Cricketers, Farncombe

Anonymous why hide your name?????????????????????????

9 Jun 2007 16:54

The White Horse, Shere

This is such a lovely pub but what a let down on all aspects food, service etc.I would suggest you drive on and try the great village pubs not to far away ie Albury Shamley Green or Wonersh.(not Chilworth).Until the idiot pub company that owns this wakes up.Dont you just hate chain pubs?

9 Jun 2007 16:51

The Prince of Wales, Shere

This place is now rated higher than The White Horse not because its good just the W/H.is so poor.

9 Jun 2007 16:44

The Jolly Farmer, Puttenham

What an crap place.I know its a Harvester but the food was AWFUL.Only half the menu availible out of alot of drinks too(is the place closing down)if not it should be.
Drive on and find the really good pubs in the local villages.

4 Apr 2007 19:27

The Wey Inn, Godalming

Just keep on going awful place.

21 Mar 2007 19:28

The Anchor Inn, Godalming

The refit looks good shame they did not ban smoking when they reopened.
Ales good.

21 Mar 2007 19:25

The Pilgrim, Dorking

I think this is a fantastic pub hidden away from the mad mad world, the atmosphere is great & the draught drinks all well kept. Great!!!!!!!!

25 Jan 2007 17:30

The Seahorse, Shalford

This pub is boardering on being a restaurant it certainly is not for your local drinkers.Food was ok service average, decor great.Saying all that we will possibley call again when we have done all the really good village pubs in this area.

5 Oct 2006 12:53

The Manor Inn, Godalming

I can only agree with the negative comments.Food is fling & bing and they cant do that right.Staff dont care a hoot if you have a good meal or bad( sorry did i say good meal this place wouldn`t know a good meal if it bit them on the arse). This can not be classed as a pub.So lets mark it as a restaurant 0 THAT WILL DO AS YOU DONT DO -`S

8 Jun 2006 18:48

The Royal Oak, Holmbury St Mary

Food not bad good choice of ales all in all a nice pub.

8 Jun 2006 18:16

The Wotton Hatch, Wotton

Ihave to agree with the review of may last year, must be the same bloke serving or they train them like this always busy doing nothing, no hello kiss my arse when you arrive puts you off from the start.

8 Jun 2006 17:51

Pub, Chilworth

We were not made to feel at home here.Purely for people who want to eat not for drinkers. The two sittings on a sunday can make you feel rushed which we did.
