Rayleigh Lodge, Rayleigh

Great for a quick 2 or 3 pints on a sunny afternoon any day of the week loads of space outside in the beer garden and nice surroundings. Very unlikely to see any "chavs" here. Sometimes i like a pint alone and this is the best place to go for that. It never gets too busy here and that's the balance that works for me :)

The Roebuck, Rayleigh

Cheap beer but lacking in atmosphere. Takes 2 years to climb the steps to the toilets upstairs. Pointless outside area on the right hand side .. this is situated next door to the Rayleigh Library and opposite the police station. Fosters is almost as cheap at the Paul Pry Tavern just a short walking distance up the road so if you want atmosphere just go there instead.

The Spread Eagle, Rayleigh

Not a bad pub in general, there seems to be an improvement in staffing. Get rid of some of the old regs and this will be an even better pub. I miss the days when it was a smaller pub and it was seperated into 2 bars.

The Half Moon, Rayleigh

This is the only pub in Rayleigh that has a juke box. That is all it has going for it. Unless you can speak Kling - on like the regulars that have been here for the last 2 million years then you are likely to get barred or bored very quickly. 4 bar staff on at any one time sharing only 1 brain cell. Avoid at all costs ...

Ye Old Crown, Rayleigh

Generally a nice pub and there doesn't seem to be too many idiots in this pub. Somewhere you can sit down and relax whilst sipping a pint or 2. It puts most of the other pubs to shame in Rayleigh.

The Paul Pry Tavern, Rayleigh

Quite a nice pub although over-run with coke heads on friday /saturday nights, it has a nice beer garden though plenty of space seems to be the place to go and watch the football as well. One of the better pubs in Rayleigh.

The Old White Horse, Rayleigh

Closes down and re-opens almost on a yearly basis these days. Attracts all the scum you can imagine it's a dead loss. It used to be a good place to go up to the early 90's, sadly times have changed you can literally cut the atmosphere with a knife as soon as you walk in there or enter the beer garden at the side. Avoid this place at all costs and go to the Paul Pry instead.
