very basic and a congregating place for the burberry indeed.

basic estate pub catering for local clientele. no ales.
14 Jul 2008 10:26
fairly basic pub which doesn't make the best of its nice location and exterior. shows sky tv.
14 Jul 2008 10:24
Visited on a saturday afternoon and there were about 2 people there. no ales on. its nice location means that a lot of people wouldn't ever know it existed.
14 Jul 2008 10:23
busy pub with nice enough interior. a slightly more interesting choice of drinks would def be welcome.
30 Mar 2008 18:54
nice looking, busy pub, a few real ales. worth a look but didn't eat.
9 Mar 2008 15:36
went in there on a sunday lunchtime and was fine. staff were friendly, pub well laid out, busy and a nice conservatory carvery area. a few ales including old perculiar.
9 Mar 2008 15:36
9 ales on my visit including 2 from yarmouths blackfriars brewery, beer fans enjoy.
17 Feb 2008 22:20
pleasnat pub in trowse, a few beers, london pride/spitfire/adnams, worth a look.
17 Feb 2008 22:19
quiet on my lunchtime visit.
great to see 3 beers from humpty dumpty brewery.
14 Feb 2008 16:32
excellent drinkers pub with ales not from adnams or greene king. quite a find in this area! the chicswick bitter was excellent.
14 Feb 2008 16:30
The Fishermans Return, Winterton on Sea
some strong reviews!
if you fancy a pint they have about 6-7 real ales kept well and is worth a look.
14 Feb 2008 16:28
Nice pub near the lovely priory.
Pubs are brewed on site called the Front St brewery.
The 'Cheer' bitter though was pretty tasteless and not recommended.
worth a visit, good selection of foreign beers.
14 Feb 2008 16:27
pleasant pub with nice back area. 3 beers from the pubs Blue Moon Brewery. Unfortunately the Easylife 3.8% had a bit of a home brew taste and was very unremarkable.
14 Feb 2008 16:25
The Rivergarden, Thorpe St Andrew
v.nice pub/restaurant. unfortunately we were the only people in there on the night we visited. food was quite fancy and the nelsons revenge was fine.
12 Feb 2008 21:20
The Mill House, Thorpe St Andrew
comfortable pub catering mainly for a younger crowd. spacious with loud music, pool table and loads of one arm bandits. drinks choice is dominated by the normal lagers.
12 Feb 2008 21:19
The Buck Inn, Thorpe St Andrew
nice pub with lovely position just yards from the river.
large choice of beers from microbeweries is a plus, just a shame thay they are all served so cold.
12 Feb 2008 21:18
small pub, no real ales but had staropramen. sofas with cushions at one end. enough ice in the coke to build an igloo.
23 Dec 2007 15:17
nice pub, the music is very loud. sky on the tele, 2 or 3 ales, well worth a visit.
22 Dec 2007 18:46
pleasant pub near anglia square and will be a shame if it goes like ed mentions. nice interior and a few different beers to choose from.
22 Dec 2007 18:45
this pub could be great but isn't..why?
The interior is fine and deceptively spacious with a clean look. They show skysports on a huge projector and other tv's, but theres no one in there to enjoy it. The curtains are closed putting off passers by and the fact it has sky is not made clear enough outside.
The pub has no real ales at all and a limited drink range. comfortable place to have a drink but open those curtains, serve some cask beers and make the place the inviting pub it clearly should be.

The Walnut Tree Shades, Norwich
nice enough but a little dark with the windows hidden from sunlight. american themed deep south interior and menu.
21 Dec 2007 11:29
top pub with about 20 belgian beers ranging from grimbergen blonde to kwak.
21 Dec 2007 11:28
pleasant pub near city centre, but does anyone know its there?
21 Dec 2007 11:26
friendly pub, usually a few characters about. sells CHB which is good. ideal pub for a quiet sunday afternnon pint. peramnebt fixture in good beer guide.
21 Dec 2007 11:25
pleasant enough, young persons pub, friendly staff, worth a visit.
21 Dec 2007 11:24
Middle of the road pub, not a bad place to watch the footy but only had GK IPA.
21 Dec 2007 11:23
Okay pub, couple of pool tables and sky sports. no real ales.
21 Dec 2007 11:22
great for the footy
used to sell oranjeboom lager, dont know if it still does.
9 Dec 2007 15:02
nice pub, a few beers including the house beer eagles nest. worth a look. decent atmos.
9 Dec 2007 14:55
The Duke of Connaught, Norwich
average back street pub. went in on a saturday lunchtime and was very quiet with a few reulars at the bar. several winters beers to choose from including golden and stormforce.
9 Dec 2007 14:54
interesting interior but lacks a spark. rarely that busy. usually has about 2-3 beers on show.
24 Oct 2007 15:16
2 people in here on champs league evening. unfortunately some guy wanted to watch sky news 24 on silent so we had to leave to find somewhere else. no wonder they had no customers
24 Oct 2007 15:13
i too found a miserbale barmaid. nice river setting and interior but the sole presence of adnams bitter is infuriating as ever
24 Oct 2007 15:12
The Trowel and Hammer, Norwich
place smells horribly
the barman was so miserable it was untrue
would never return. with the coachmakers and champ nearby there is never a reason to come in here
24 Oct 2007 15:06
great beer pub
avoid the quiz where teams of 12 will beat teams of 3 and the annoying speaker shouts down here his megaphone like everyone is 150.
24 Oct 2007 15:05
normally about 20 ales and 20 foreign beers here. small tele in a side room
24 Oct 2007 15:02
i like kings, a friendly pub worth a visit particulaly at lunch, nice atmos
24 Oct 2007 14:54
okay so its rather crowded at weekends
the annoying barmaids who were in dipers when you hit 18 seem determined to id everyone, but apart from that there is a huge selection of world lagers, its been in the good beer guide, its fairly stylish and comfy. worth a visit.

24 Oct 2007 14:50
large footy screen, its okay but a little bland, small beer selection.
24 Oct 2007 14:47
lots of sofas, mirrors and screens in this interesting pub. the coke served straight out of a room temp bottle and the poor london pride let it down.
24 Oct 2007 14:45
really annoyed in here. the barman served his regulars and then with me stood waiting at the bar proceeded to empty ashtrays off the tables before serving me. would never visit again.
24 Oct 2007 14:44
other reviews a bit unfair, so it does local ales only? with about 20 breweries in norfolk/suffolk its nice to see somewhere stock spectrum, humpty dumpty, iceni etc. if you want national ales go in the fat cat/shed/duke of w, trafford, kings arms, wig, the list is endless.
does not serve lager.
24 Oct 2007 13:01
curious entry in 2008 camra guide as it only had 2 ales around spring. pleasant enough.
24 Oct 2007 12:58
lovely pub, friendly, good ales, screen sports are on but dont dominate, pub has lovely interior. nice food.
24 Oct 2007 12:56
should be nice, clean pub with big screen sky. instead its populatd by some 'interesting' people, very quiet and no ales at all. locals only but could oh so easily be changed.
24 Oct 2007 12:55
pub is fine but oh so quiet on my visit. large space with 2 people in.
24 Oct 2007 12:54
The Prince of Denmark, Norwich
unexciting. not great for footy, music, beer or urgh anything really.
24 Oct 2007 12:53
no under 21's allowed?
random police drud searches?
says it all, sorry
24 Oct 2007 12:51
nice pub. always about 10 ales in good condition. nice outside sitting area, a conservatory area with sky sports and a quieter bar for conversation.
24 Oct 2007 12:50
The West End Retreat, Norwich
friendly but basic locals pub. no ales.
