user reviews of the Angel Gardens, Norwich

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

This pub was better than its 3.8/10 current rating implies. 7 real ales were on and were all pretty bog standard - Oakham Bishops Farewell, Courage Directors, Fullers London Pride, Elgoods Black Dog, Adnams Bitter, Woodfordes Wherry and Angel Best Bitter. The TV was showing sport to one side. Music was also playing. A tented smoking area dominates the front. The interior is wooden floorboards and wood panelled walls. A pool table can be found on the far side. Probably a 5/10 pub but nothing particularly special.

Popped in a couple of weeks ago and must admit that it was a major improvement on my previous trips there 2-3 years ago. Maybe there has been a change of landlord but I certainly would not put anyone off going there now. Well kept Woodfordes Wherry and although I did not eat myself the food looked OK.

Full of chavs and half wits, called in for a drink once to be chatted up by some creep who would make the elephant man look like George Clooney. Unless youre cro magnum man with a two ton chain around your neck and rigger boots dont even think about going into this dump.

really annoyed in here. the barman served his regulars and then with me stood waiting at the bar proceeded to empty ashtrays off the tables before serving me. would never visit again.

Community local but can be problematic. Witnessed a member of bar staff serving a guy who had been barred and telling him to 'hurry up and drink his beer' before the boss got back. No way to run a pub. Barred is barred and your staff should know that.
