The Blacksmiths Arms, Cudham

Nothing to criticise here, good food, good beer, reasonably priced and served by efficient, friendly staff. But be advised: if you are going to eat here book a table in the dining area because the front door is close to the bar and your table could be constantly bumped by passing regulars, as ours was. We will remember that next time, and there will be a next time. This place is too good to forget.

The Dew Drop Inn, Hurley

The beer here is as good as you will get anywhere, beter than many. They run a courtesy bus for the surrounding villages. I arrived too late to eat but the menu is a 'must try' tempter; the prices are on the high side but not expensive for what's on offer. I'll be going back to eat. quiz night is Tuesday.

Ye Olde Swan Inn, Thames Ditton

I found this pub to be satisfactory in every way: good menu; reasonable prices (if you get about as much as I do); friendly helpful staff; comfortable surroundings; well-kept draught beers; what more do you want. The toilets are minimal but clean (is there really only one toilet in such a busy place?). And the car park is a challenge. I had lunch there today and loved it.

The Sportsman's Inn, Cowgill

This is a nice unassuming pub, with beer on hand pump. Never really busy, but popular with fell walkers during the season. deffinately a local, sometimes there will be live music if some musicians happen to call. Not worth a special trip but a good place to stop if you are passing that way.

The Ham Brewery Tap, Ham

They've started well here - 'under new ownership', two good real ales when I went, a friendly welcome, and considerate service. The food was good too. The only thing wrong here is that they must have the naffest pub sign in Surrey, possibly in the country

The Harrow, Stockbury

This pub is a village pub just off the A429 betwen J7 on the M20 and J5 on the M2 if ever you are journeying that way you do well to take your break here. It is only 5 minute from the main road. It is a very small village and this is the pub. They sell good Shepherd & Neame Ale. The dining room is small and clean. The prices seem a bit high but the menu looks good. I only had time for a ham sandwich; the ham had been delivered by the local butcher and cooked in the pub. Need I say more? I will definately go back.

The Lamb, Rusper

Ours was a very pleasant visit. The high standard of the beer here is what we always hope for. The food is on the costly side but comes in ample well prepared portions. The menu is extensive. The exceptional thing about this pub is the high standard of service: the staff are friendly, willing, and knowledgeable. Apparently the brewery (WJ King) took over the place a couple of years ago, maybe the standard of the people is due to them, whatever, the training has been good and morale seems to be very high. The customers reap the benefit and it shows in their attitude to each other. altogather a most happy pub.

The Bell, Kemsing

This is a small pub but has a large games room for yoofs at the back. The food is good but there is no proper restaurant, they have made the front (smallest) bar the non smoking area and it needs a bit of sorting to be properly comfortable. That said they are lovely people and the beer is good. Definately worth a visit.

Wattenden Arms, Kenley

How can a pub tucked away on the way to nowhere be this successful? By being this good that's how. You don't find it as you journey along, you get lost and get lucky, or someone tells you about it, of you live locally. I don't think anyone living locally would tell you about it, it would be too precious to them. The people are friendlu, both sides of the bar. The food is good and reasonably priced. The menu is comprhensive but flexible. There is a choice of real ales. I would have rated it more than 7 but for the 'piped' music. I will be going back

The Dog and Bell, Deptford

The curry night was disappointing. When I got there 8.30 all the meat was gone, it was prawns or nothing. There was no choice of pickle: only one available, take it of leave it. And the chapaties were hard and stiff, as though they had been cooked early and kept heated. And now the bar service is falling off. That said the patronage seems to be improving so Adam must have something right. But the pub that I've been using for 16 years is slipping away

The Dog and Bell, Deptford

Things are changing. Charlie and Eileen have retired. The new guy Adam has his own ideas. He is a very good cook and the pub seems to leaning into gastro made. The guest ales are not so choice. Most of the differences are too subtle to pinpoint but the ambience is changing. Lager drinkers will be happier

The Plash Inn, LLanfallteg

You have to make a journey to go there but it is worth it. Just a plain square welsh village building, has the warmest welcome you could hope for. There seems to be 3 guest real ales always on sale and they change each week. The food is good too. Be warned very busy with locals at lunch time, still friendly even then.

The Cock Inn, Boughton Monchelsea

This pub is for anyone who takes their beer and food seriously. There are three or four bars, all with that 'lived in' feeling. The food is cooked fresh when ordered so be prepared for a wait, it is worth it. Well kept Young's beer, good meals, friendly staff, big car park, what more can you want. When we walked in for the first time we were greeted as though they had been waiting for us - of course we've been back again and again and ag...

The Freemasons Tavern, South Norwood

This pub is closed, has been since last year,O'Connor must have put the kiss of death on it. There are builders in now but no indications of its future.
