The Rose and Crown, Fletching

Fantastic news - the pub is now under new ownership. Haven't been here for ages, but what a change about to what I had been hearing. The place was clean, fresh and the dining room has been reinstated to very good standard. The barmaid Grace and owner Adrian were welcoming and polite and it was great to hear all the plans for special events, live music and themed food nights.
The beer was great - Timmy Taylors Landlord and Harveys Best, and the food was superb. I was told that the Chef, Aaron i believe, has a wealth of experience. The menu covered good pub fare, was reasonably priced and what my partner and I had was delicious. Well worth a visit !!

The Rose and Crown, Cuckfield

Returned today - What a fantastic Sunday Roast - the large oval plate was 3/4 full of meat - choice of Beef, Pork or Turkey - or a mix of all 3 (which I had!!), Roast Tatties, Yorkshire Pud, Stuffing Ball and Red Cabbage sauteed in Red Wine was what arrived on the main plate, then a seperate platter of peas, carrots, brocolli, cauliflower cheese and mashes swede, carrot and potato !! Well, just got home (can hardly move now !!) - no time (or room!!) for a Pudding, but the homemade choice was again so tempting ! Beers now stocked are Harveys and Dark Star Hophead - good to have real local ales !! Well worth a visit - and worth phoning to reserve a table for busy times - I got their new number which is 01444 454046 - as the one at the top of this page seems to be something else !!

The Rose and Crown, Cuckfield

This is now a freehouse and what a pleasant change !! Now stocking Harveys, Courage Directors, Courage Best, Amstel, Kronenbourg 1664, Fosters, Strongbow and Guinness - gives a good choice.
Food is superb, and the staffing top notch. Had a super meal with brilliant service, and the homemade desserts are to die for !!
No longer a sporty pub, quiet background music, no pool table, no fruit machines, no tele and no dogs !! What a blissful traditional pub this now is - an absolute must - do get along there !

Mooch, Burgess Hill

A great bar, with a good crowd. Excellant food, drink and staff. Also an excellant sun trap outside with cool seating in and out. Recently featured on TV, gone a long way since it first started out.

Jacobs Post, Burgess Hill

Now reopened as a totally different venue. Have renamed to the "Jacobs Post", offer a good menu, a couple of real ales (Harveys and Youngs - which were both very well kept). The menu is varied, although a bit on the pricey side. Table service offered up until early evening. No smoking areasand plenty of soft leather seating provided for a good comfortable time - well worth a visit.

Quench, Burgess Hill

A small bar, but gets quite busy, especially Saturday nights when there is normally a cramped in artist strumming away on a guitar. The folding front windows mean you can spill out onto the street and sit at an outside picnic table !
The draught lagers can be a bit iffy if it has been quiet - not enough trade at times to do the selection justice.

Jacobs Post, Burgess Hill

Currently shut for a total refurb follwing a rapid deteriation from being the best pub in town to the worst - watch this space !!

The Railway Hotel, Burgess Hill

A total refurb has changed the atmosphere and (fortunately) the clientele. Good food with quite a good range of dishes and prices to suit served every day until 9pm (7pm Fri & Sat). A couple of Real ales well kept are normally on. The quiz is now every Wednesday, Live Music now every Saturday night, DJ Fri & Sun (Sundays do sometimes havew Karaoke).
Garden extended now with a great sun deck at the rear - a real sun trap !
Good staff service with the whole place being kept spotless.
The best in the way of Pubs in the area by a long way - worth a visit.

The Brewers Arms, Burgess Hill

A good traditional pub. Taken over by Wendy and Mick a little while back now. Have cleaned the place up, reintroduced bar snacks at luchtime. real ale available. Seperate pool room at the foot of the beer garden in the old Brewery buiding. Bar billiards and darts both supported by a couple of teams. A good friendly atmosphere - worth a visit.
