I visit a lot of pubs, and they vary a lot. Some are good, some are dreadful. On arrival here, I found a genuinely friendly greeting from three of those working there (unusual in itself). The real ale was good and well kept. I ordered a veggie burger, and did not expect much. They tend to be the much of a muchness. This proved an exception, although was arguably not a burger- and that is not a bad thing. It looked good, was very filling, and tasted glorious. The prices were reasonable. Well done the chef with imagination. Shame there are not more of you around. This struck me as a truly local pub in the traditional sense, not one of the modern breed. This is one of those rare ] occasions where I can use the word "excellent".

2 pints and a coke cost about a tenner, yes expensive but nothing stopping people buying a 4 pack and a bottle of coke at the supermarket and sitting in their garden for half the price. Still I don't suppose that's the point is it.

Look - of course the food's not brilliant; they don't employ professional chefs, just local woman (and the odd guy) earning pin-money who have basic skills only. That's one of the reasons the quality of the food and the service go rapidly downhill when it's busy. If you want a first-class meal, go to a restaurant with a good reputation - it will cost a bit more, but you'll get better food. The owners are charming people, which is a plus-point, but value for money is more important. Sadly, it is over-priced, but then it's Windlesham, so what do you expect?

I had recently went back to this pub as i heard they had a menu change so i went there with my family and found thats it was true we had a brilliant service, we got taken to our seats and offered a choice of wines before we ordered which was nice and then when we did come round to ordering the waitress was sufficient we had starters and mains which the starters were out within 10 minutes and lovely full of flavour and then we probably waited about another 15-20 minutes waiting for our main course at this time it was really busy so we expected a wait but it didnt take long at all the mains came out i had the sirloin steak and my god it was cooked to perfection none of us who ate that night went home feeling let down we like it that much we've gone back another time i highly rate this pub!!!

Place has a nice, large garden, ideal for lunch yesterday. However the food was quite appalling. "Home-cooked" chicken curry....sauce was from a bottle. Mushroom omelette was completely dry, 1 prawn baguette, and 1 prawn sandwich both contained tasteless chewy tiger prawns. Food bill was 30, and we had to wait 30 minutes after ordering. Sure the place was busy, but it would have been courteous if the barmaid had advised that there would be this delay. Never again.
