Completed a walk from here. It was in a nineties guide called Pub Walks in Berkshire. The lanes are now more like motorways and the walking was terrible.

The pub itself was pretty decent. Mainly a restaurant but with a separate pubby bit. The food was high quality pub fodder. Had to send a photo home for vegetable identification purposes. Beers - Ringwood Razorback - was also in good condition.

Good example of a country pub.

I stumbled upon this one quite by chance on Boxing Day whilst walking out from Wokingham. I had no idea it was here and was delighted to find it open following my disappointment in finding the nearby White Horse shut. Delightful: must try luch hee next time in the area.

I wholeheartedly agree with Phil, in that this place is far more deserving than the current rating. Is split into 2 distinct and separate parts, the restaurant and the pub. This means the pub area remains very "pubby" and not overly "foody". Traditional looking place and a superb snug too, with various knicks-knacks to look at on the walls. Moderate selection of real ales and pleasant, knowledgable staff
Have been here solely to eat and solely to drink and impressed on both counts, as were rest of my party. Just a shame it's location means a drive the only feasible way to get here for most people

A really good pub this. It's in a quiet area and is nicely laid out and obviouslys kept very clean. The beer, wine and food is a good range and standard and reasonably priced (10 will get you a decent main), with helpful and friendly staff to boot. There is plenty of car parking space and a nice open outside garden.
I am rather surprised by the low score shown at present, can only surmise this is a legacy of poor reviews in the dim and distant past... no way should this pub have a rating in the low 5s. Definitely recommended.

First visit since the change of licensee last evening. I must say the place is much improved from its previous incarnation. It is now more "pubby" and a little more like the place of years gone by, even some of the old regulars were back. The new people in charge are friendly, efficient and clearly doing their best. The beer - Brakspear Ordinary and Special - was very good, some of the best Brakspear's in the area. Hobgoblin also available. The food was OK - perhaps we expected more from the description. We will certainly return.
