user reviews of the Boot, Baldock

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Great to see they are improving and making an effort with a private garden area too.
Beers and Ales were fine. Drinking along the Baldock high street is getting better!

This is now my local pub, it just resently had changed of mangement and you get a nice warm welcome. Has entertainment at weekends with disco's every Friday nights. The beer is serve well and they have a jukebox and game machines. Also they have pool table. Please don't read too much into the other comment.

The Boot used to be a cracking pub. One of the cheapest pubs in Baldock for pool too. It all seemed to go downhill when summer violence became fashionable outside in the street car park. They should never have changed the layout, in my opinion. I remember the toilets were always freezing!

The manageress is a bit clueless -to say the least- and it shows too. You have to have simple things like soap in the toilets you know, this is not too much to ask. And you can also wait for a good performance to finish and not stop the band 15 minutes before the end of the gig because you did not like a song they just played. This is unheard of, especially when half of the people attending (6 of them so all in all there were just 12 people around at the time), are there just to see the band. It is also not good for your public relations to not give them the money you have promised because they did not perform for those 15 minutes, since you (and none else) have stopped them!! I also suggest you dont lock the doors before 11 so that people can come in and go out if and when they please. I will stop here, I dont have the time to write an essay.

This is now my local and I'm getting fond of it. Seemed to be the only pub open in Baldock on Boxing Day and consequently had a cracking atmosphere. I've noticed a sign advertsing a "business opportunity" so hopefully it won't go the way of The George and Dragon etc
