THIS PUB IS NOW CLOSED FOR GOOD

My lunch today was probably the worst meal I've ever eaten. The roast beef appeared to be of the 'sliced meat in a bag frozen with gravy to be nuked in the microwave' variety, rather than the delicious roast that we expected based on the lovely country pub interior. The vegetarian in our party (who couldn't eat due to the absence of any vegetarian option on the menu) had a lucky escape. Beer was mediocre.

Pub has applied to be turned into a residential residence, going, going gone!

My companion and I sought refuge from the elements in this hostelry on a typically miserable Bank Holiday Monday. We found ourselves in a cosy country pub where we were given a friendly welcome by the landlord. Two ales on tap, London Pride and Marston's Pedigree. We opted for the Pedigree which was perfectly fine. The pub must have had a makeover since the previous review as it was certainly not run down on our visit. Worth seeking out if you are towpath walking and in need of refreshment.

Quite out of the way with a 'Run-down'feel to it but a nice welcome from the hosts June & John. The pub is generally frequented by the local narrow-boat owners who can make an outsider feel a little intrusive. There's a quiz on Thursday nights which is good fun.
Food is OK with fair portions and the cask beer is kept well.
