Popped in for lunch this afternoon thinking it would be as good as when Lynn and Russell were running it. Unfortunately not, things have changed. Ordered a couple of drinks and lunch, when my lunch arrived it looked okay but when I started to eat my sausage and onion sandwich it was stone cold and served with cold chips. After two mouthfuls I brought this to the attention of the landlord who promptly took it away, I didn't ask for a replacement. When it came to settling the bill I said I wasn't prepared to pay for the cold food that I hadn't eaten. The first response of the landlord was 'I am calling the police' which I said I would be quite happy with. After a while he presented me with a bill £10 for a jacket potato and £3 for two flat soft drinks. Needless to say I just paid and was then told not to come back! Not the way to treat a local who has been using the pub for 40 years - we have no intention of going back or recommending it to anyone we know. Not sure where the Christmas spirit was but definitely not in the Rose & Crown, very disappointing attitude.

Popped in here today to see how the new landlord shapes up. He seems like a very pleasant bloke & his staff were friendly. I had a delicious Sunday roast & a couple of pints & shall be returning in the very near future.

A really lovely country pub with a good range of beautifully kept Real Ale and superb home cooked food which is run by a landlady who really understands the traditional values of an English pub.
I found the Men's toilets and washing facilities spotless and my wife reported that she had never been in a better appointed Ladies.
Important details but often found lacking in other Pubs.
Despite the fact that I live 5 miles away, I have made the Rose and Crown, Upper Farringdon as my adoptive local and I cannot give it a better recommendation than this

Lovely pub in a quiet village; you'd never find it if you didn't know it was there. Garden out back with a few tables and seating inside for food. I've been here a few times; not yet had any food but I here It's quite good.
Only let down by the soft drinks from the snake being £4 per pint. This of course procludes bringing any kids or designated drivers. I guess the target audience is: ale drinkers, living in Upper Farringdon who don't have any kids.

Lovely rural pub with something for everybody. As I only went for the beer I can't say more about the food than that it looked and smelled great, but I can tell you that the beer was great. A couple from Tripple fff (Moondance and Pressed Rat), the obligatory Doom Bar (what does anyone see in this bland brown rubbish except a nice name?), Goddards Fuggle Dee Dum and Thwaites Lancaster Bomber, which was great to see so far South. All were in lovely condition (except the Doom, which I didn't try because, even in perfect condition, it is almost devoid of character) and it's obvious that they care here.
It's worth searching out.
