Quite a change from the many tourist template York pubs, this local's place is probably not to all tastes. Very noisy & thirsty patrons, though around lunchtime the wobbly boot factor hadn't kicked in too much. That said I enjoyed my pint of Black Sheep (3.48) and service was friendly.

I need to be careful here as I actually do not like this pub, however, I can see its merits and so I need to be balanced. I have visisted it 3 times and its always been packed with very drunk people.... now thats not a bad thing to be honest... I have sampled Tetleys and also some guest ales all of which have been OK... it can take ages to get served in here and if you like pubs full of all walks of life then this is for you.... its basically a large room at the front and a smaller one at the back.... the toilets reeked something awful !!

Well there you go.... I go in here because its one of my brothers favourites when he is quite drunk.... personally, i think there are much better pubs in York....

No pandering to tourists in here. A wide spectrum of mainly local customers, very busy and lively on a Saturday lunchtime. A bit shaby around the edges, as 'real pubs' sometimes are, but certainly nothing to complain about. Not selling itself as a real ale destination pub although the three ales available are well kept. Worth visiting before someone decides to turn it into a Gastro Pub!

After wandering by on consecutive nights and seeing arguments outside, I decided to steer clear.

Was expecting so much more. Pretty poor drinks selection on tap, took ages to get served.
