Now a cocktail bar called Cuckoo

Please note that my previous review dated April 2011 is for the pub located in the old corn exchange at the bottom of Lune Street. My apologies for this!

"Popular with the younger crowd" - it always was. The received wisdom in the 60s was that the kids went in the back bar out of the way, the 16-year olds in the side room on the right as you entered and the seasoned drinkers, "18 next week" went in the main bar.

This place is popular with the younger crowd late at the weekends. It has booths and leather chairs and tries to tempt you with inexpensive cocktails. The music was very LOUD on the evening of my visit. Good laugh in the gents toilets with young chap trying to flog you squirts of sanitizing hand gel and various manly scents. Promised me that one particular brand would guarantee me the pleasure of a young woman that night. Resisted as I already had one in tow.

Now changed to a 'boutique' bar along the same lines as Forum in the city
