3 Badger cask ales, seemed popular with the lunch time food market.

Busy when we visited, and very noisy with two Sky Sports TVs blaring out World Cup football and Test Cricket respectively. I didn't mind the latter, but the football was too LOUD. Conversation was impossible with the noise, and the narrow bar was so busy we were repeatedly jostled, though not in an unfriendly manner. We left for the more relaxed Kings Arms down the hill. The Badger beer was OK.

This Hall and Woodhouse pub ie selling Badger beers was pub number 5 on my tour.

Only 2 ales on tap which was Badger and Tanglefoot however there was a full selection of bottles from their range. I opted for the Badger which was decent.

Large, long & thin interior with the bar to your left (depends which door you come through!) as you enter just after the entrance to the large back garden. With the sun shining the decking area was the best place to be though its a proper sun trap, wear a hat if the weather’s good.

There was a wedding on in the church so the pub was busy, it’s a decent pub but it’s a little bit too foodie for me. One of the better one of the day.

My wife and I tried this pub while visiting Arundel. There was a service on at the cathedral so we thought we would pop in for a pint and a meal before visiting it. We both had a very acceptable lunch and the beer was excellent. What we liked most was that it was a good lunchtime mix of locals and visitors. The staff were friendly and helpful. All in all a very good experience.

Went to the St Mary's Gate for a meal a week or two ago. The last time I went to The Gate was over a year ago. What a change. Very average but overpriced food. Strikes me that whoever buys the food goes for sub-standard quality. i.e cheap and nasty.
Beer was great, Staff excellent, Landlady very very nice and chatty. If I was local I would definately use this pub just to chat her up. Landlord jumped up and full of his own self importance.
