Used to have a cellar open that was a pretty decent place for a drink. They even had little plays down there. It's probably rented out as "lofts" now to an unMancunian who thinks he got a "wicked" deal on the place compared to what he'd pay in Surrey.

was always ok - freindly enough, quite towny. my pal nearly knocked a fruit machine over in here somehow.

Er, sorry to say, it's now closed with no sign of reopening. Shame cos it was always worth a visit if you were in a big group, most of that end of Manchester is now trendy bars.

Must agree with smudger below.

We get there every year on our jollyboys outing and are always welcomed. Which is a surprise as we're all pi$$ed by the time we get there. Great pub and staff.

Excellent public house, and at prices that make it expensive to abstain.

The barstaff are excellent, polite and the beers good. Also devoid of any type of fashionable person, which in my opinion is a bonus.

Take a bunch of friends, annexe one of the booths at 3 o clock on a saturday, and just have a laugh. A short walk to virtually any other city centre nightspot.
