Im a Hayes man , born and bread, been drink in this pub since i was 16, im 30 now, and this pub gets me away from the horrors that is Hayes. Staff are friendly , beer is well kept, all in all a tidy pub. As for the people, they are rough and ready , but they are good people, just getting on with there lives. I still go back every time im back in Hayes, im my opinion one of the best wetherspoons ive been to

You know what you are going to get with Wetherspoons and given that Hayes is in many ways the land that time forgot, its wares were welcome after a long Grand Union Canal walk from Denham. I enjoyed a superb pint of chocolatey Bruery beer from the chain's American joint venture while buffalo wings were passable. No character at all of course but that's like complaining about a lack of personality in your local Tesco Metro.

A JDW Real Ale oasis in a town not known for good beer. Still run by Gemma but on her own now, this pub serves generally very well kept ales and decent enough good value food, to the mainly working class regulars that frequent the place.
Staff are normally friendly and polite, but there has been a lot of personnel turnover this year, which detracts a little from it's appeal. At busy times, the bar service can be a bit slow, but the low beer prices make up for this.
Very much a locals beer drinkers pub, the clientele may appear a bit rough and ready, often still dressed in their working clothes, but are well enough behaved and actual trouble is rare. Not a genteel establishment, you will hear ripe and non-PC language aplenty - but you won't find aggro there unless you go looking for it and behave like an idiot.

I used to drink here pretty regularly and was made very welcome by the staff and management. Food is decent and the beer well-kept. Customers are a rough-and ready crowd but this is Hayes FFS; you're going to get a bit of boxing now and again on a weekend night...

The managers B and G do a wonderful job. Keep my spot at the bar warm for me...

This place is an absolute disgrace! And shoul be shut down by health and safety. I went for some food with my father which took ages 2 come out and god knows why because it was still bloody frozen solid!! The management is a joke as she didn't even give an apology and took no responsibility for it simply saying "well I didn't cook it!" I walk past this pub on a daily basis, and for no reason what so ever you get a torrent of abuse from the customers who stand outside smoking pot drunk off their heads. Most of the staff don't believe in service with a smile! If I were you I would stay well clear!! What a disgrace 2 the weatherspoon chain!

They used to leave the disabled WC door ajar, resulting in urine smell, but seems to be better now. Enjoyed breakfast and also a curry here in recent weeks, ale good too - and now a beer festival in progress.

Enjoyed a few pints here the other night. Much improved of late.

One of the best Spoons outside central London. Awesome pints of Cotleighs Buzzard and Marstons Old Empire, a perfectly cooked mixed grill and on a Tuesday night the place was lacking all of the reasons why people criticise (Poor staff, ropey clientele etc.). By far the best pub in Hayes and well worth a visit.

Have to say I was pleasantly surprised by this place - food is very good and cheap - the breakfasts are superb value and tasty. The service is good, although the bar staff could smile more. Mind you, given the fact that 80% of their clientele are smelly pissheads and old mumbling dribble merchants (plus the occasional pikey contingent), you can hardly blame them.

I like a pint here, would go back, its a bit like watching a soap opera as there are some colourful characters in there. Yes.

Evidently recently refurbished, this is one of the better 'Spoons in my experience based on just one visit admittedly. A friendly attentive barman, locals enjoying some banter and conversation, and some well-kept ales at only 1.69 per pint.If I'm in Hayes again I'll go back there.

Was born in Hayes and come bay to take my father out for a pint. We usually end up here. Good choice, staff friendly, plenty of seats. Not eaten here but he has and was not keen.

Had a meal recently. Food was inedible. Chilli was burnt from being overcooked in the microwave. Rice was almost cold, garlic bread was microwaved instead of being grilled / oven cooked.
I wrote in to complain but their response was just a 'fill in the gaps' standard letter with no real apology.

Good, well-kept ales and friendly service, but the pub seems to be a hangout for the local social defectives. Shame

Typical good value from Spoons and a good selection of RA. 7/10

Now doing live jazz on sunday evenings.
(As far as I know, this is for a trial period which started on 6th August. If successful it may continue. In other words "use it or lose it").

Quite a nice pub. Friendly bar staff but, as cackgsy said, they do tend to move on. Good selection of foreign bottled lagers. Screen showing Sky News in the dining area can be a bit distracting.

was a really great pub when it first opened, however like everything else in hayes - the chavs took over!

Not a bad pub, for a Weatherspoons. Its quite comfortable, and the locals don't seem the usual bunch of alkies that Hayes can produce.

Two words...

IAN PARKER!

I used this palce when I was unemployed, so I can vouch for the fact that it is cheap. The beer selection was always good, and because of the large turnover the beer was always in good nick.

There are two major problems with the Botwell Inn. All the really good staff move on to better things in the Wetherspoons empire (fair play to them) but that means a constant changing of the guard.

However the principal problem are the customers. Very cheap beer attracts trouble, and there is plenty of that in Hayes. Personally I'm not keen on pubs that have to employ bouncers.

CHEAP..... very cheap......very very cheap. ANother Weatherspoons I am afraind but to get lashed before going on to anywhere else.. cos you need to ( dont stay in here all evening) it is fantastic.
