user reviews of Prince Of Wales, Uxbridge

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Another pub discarded by Fuller's. I believe this had re-opened since the last review. The Prince of Wales signage still remains. But signage for a Mediterranean restaurant have now been added. Notices in the windows state that it is closed for refurbishment.

Nothing like a landlord leaving a review, eh?

This place has not been the same since the early 90's. Then a pleasant decent place fulfilling the wishes of local GROWN UP people.

It is now a kids/teens palace, having driven any one decent left away.

Don't kid yourself Craig. You won't be around long enough to have ever been remembered being there.

RIP The POW. Once nice, now a ce**pit.

Incidentally, beer in the Red Lion could be 20x more expensive BUT it IS always better kept.

Review based on our visit Friday, 8th August 2014 and the preceding Tuesday lunchtime.

This pub has suffered a lot over the last few yeas with neglect, both from Fullers (for letting them have the tenancies) and the Tenants themselves. However, that changed in October 2013 with the temporary lisencee. The pub has been transformed with new carpet in the Saloon Bar and a wooden floor in the Public Bar. Entertainment is provided daily by the Bar Staff, including Kerry during the day, and Craig or Sean (the licenee's), or their varied selection of bar staff in the evenings, but the do a mean Karaoke every other Friday and live singers/bands at least once a month.

Food offerings are available every day (except Sunday's) and the food is simple but excellent value for money (I recommend the Steak and Ale homemade pie -to die for). Drinks are MUCH cheaper than the nearby Fuller's Hotel The Red Lion, but the beer is clean, crisp and better than many a local competitor.

This is a friendly Local with a great warm welcome extended to visitors anytime. Children are welcome until 6pm, making this truly an adult venue. Close to Uxbridge town centre for the younger crowd.

We'll worth a visit at any time of the year!!!!

Got dragged here by a friend earlier today. Never been before but LOVED it. Thanks to all this that made us welcome.

Excellent pint of London Pride, but no TV for the cricket, and they don't do the amazing bacon sandwiches any more.

In response to Martin Shaw's comments I also use this pub. what makes you an authority on people.
do you just wander round pubs believing yourself to be na expert?
You have the audacity to criticise jamesball888 for his lack of using proper grammar, please practice what you preach; "It's awful 'nuff said."
as for your further statement " HOW COULD ANY DECENT HUMAN BEING EVER SUBJECT THEMSELVES TO THIS Dump?
Again what makes you think you are so superior?
Perhaps you should just stick to your local if you have one.

Martin Shaw are you for real?, you really do come across as being a total prick. You swan around pubs in predominantly working class areas making quite offensive comments about the locals you encounter. What are you expecting?, a roaring fire perhaps?, or maybe a load of braying rahs talking about hiking in the Cotswolds. Its Uxbridge and Hillingdon mate, not Henley on Thames. The Prince is a nice earthy local pub, nothing more, nothing less and as for harbouring known drug dealers, you really are talking out of your backside

Hey there, before I begin I shall tell you this review will be a bit biased... well because it's my local and everyone loves their local pub XD
First of all, this is a pub for locals I cannot stress that enough, it's not for partying or girls. It's just for a manly pint of beer/cider/whisky
[pint of Whisky ha =p]They have ale pumps! You can't find that in your new-age bars! Anyway, the staff are friendly [except for one who I won't name], the food is a little pricey and the atmosphere in my eye's is of welcoming after a hard days work.It has an outside thingy, but that's not that great. Also on the other side of the bar, it has a jukebox with squillions of music, someone played Pink Floy'ds "Shine on you crazy diamiond" and got their 13 minutes worth of money... ANYWAY!! Is it the best pub in the world? No. But it'll always be my local, and that's all I want it to be =]

Not as good decor-wise as The Vine nearby but the beer is far better.

The Landlord is a very pleasant chap very friendly as are the majority of his staff. Just a few niggles, Loud music from the public bar, kids that seem to be allowed in to play darts! kids sitting outside drinking( incidently these drinks were not sold to them by the pub)A good traditional pub with a good atmosphere, very much a locals pub.

5th August 2006: Beer has improved slightly, food "acceptable" BUT expensive. Some trouble makers have been erradicated. Other locals have left voluntarily. Still bordering on a dive, nonetheless. Tenant needs to make more effort to succeed.

Used to be THE pub to go to in the 80s, especially when frequented by the bikers and an aspirational heavy metal band and their friends. One of those people is now a high profile media type. Friday nights were often the livliest.

Not so sure about it now though. The first time we had all day drinking (August 1987?), I was at this pub from 11am until 11pm !!

Like all pubs you get a few people who are not everyones cup of tea, the Landlord is a very hospitable host and the evening bar staff are friendly and very good.
I too like TSW have never seen a fight in this pub and I have used this pub for the last 11 years.
It is a proper pub not one the themed pretentious bars with plastic people and no atmosphere.

Interested to read some of the bollocks below. Yes its a locals pub and a little tatty but there are a lot of good people in there. As for being rough I`ve never seen a proper fight in there ,oh yeah, I must apologise for being a second rate tenant from a council

you have to be mad and up for a fight to go this pub Awful pub !!!!

The absolute nicest pub you could ever hope to visit. The bar staff are extremely friendly and useful and the activities are entertaining (ie: Quiz night). 10 out of 10

Well, looks like I have the honour of being the first to post a comment on this pub, which seems surprising.
Its a fairly traditional unremarkable old style 2 bar road house with a prominent location on the main Ealing - Uxbridge road, not too far away ( 5 minutes walk ) from the Red Lion Hotel at the top of Hillingdon Hill. Limited food menu
Mainly used by locals it seems, but this is now a preferable alternative to the aforementioned Red Lion, following its turning into a hotel.Beer on reasonable form and not unwelcoming to passing trade, such as yours truly, based on last Saturday's visit
