user reviews of the Beaufort, Hendon

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Like so many others, we popped into the Beaufort following a visit to the nearby RAF Museum. Fairly typical for a modern Young's pub and none the worse for that. Only two real ales on offer during at the time - Young's "Ordinary" and Sharp's Doom Bar at around £4.30 per pint ("London prices"). The quality on the "Ordinary" was excellent, and the staff were pleasant and attentive bearing in mind the pub was busy since it was a pre-Christmas Friday lunchtime. We didn't try the food, though it looked like the standard Young's menu - someone below mentioned microwaves to which my standard reply would be "If you want a gourmet meal, go to an upmarket restaurant!". We'd intended only having a quick pint but stayed for another.

Went to the RAF museum and so popped in here - against my better judgement and as the Dovecote closed - and had a pint of keg bitter which cost me £4.74!! WOW! Don't know about the private flats but the customers looked iffy to me. Then again you would need to be dodgy-dealing to afford these prices! Staffed by people with poor command of the English language - although that is now considered the norm for a UK pub, I guess.

i will give it a try one of these days

This pub is 100%, unequivocably fully contained within Colindale; it is not in Hendon at all.

A new pub called the Dovecote has opened just around the corner to this place. A Marstons house but had a couple of very interesting ales on that were very well kept. Friendly staff as well and the beer is not as expensive. Maybe it will encourage this place to pull it's socks up. Would not attempt to eat here after the last time; I have a microwave at home that I can cook equally badly with!

I can't agree with the other reviews. I've had several meals, all good, and the service was always polite and helpful. They even returned some change I forgot about when I changed an order. It didn't disappear into someone's pocket. No it's not cheap, but despite all the moans about "council estates" this pub is used by the people in the pricey, private flats around it. The estate has it's own pub and the reinforced glass/police CCTV to go with it. This isn't that place. This is good.

Le Corbusier's dream where people live, work and play in their own little boxes made of 'ticky-tacky' may have worked for lab rats but most people culdn't hack it. This development is having another go at Corbusier's plan for living complete with it's pub. A bar in the basement of a block of flats basically - though it does sell Youngs ale... didn't risk it though and went for a bottle of Chocolate Stout (at 3.75 a pop). If you're in the vicinity itis pretty much your only option.

Overpriced flashy pub with very limited ales. Youngs house. Sunday lunch of roast beef was over cooked, so typical of most chain pubs where food is reheated in expensive microwaves. . Completely different feel to the Greyhound which is also a Youngs house. Different products too! Uniterested staff. can't find anything to really commend it. However there are people who like chain pubs so it may have a following but be warned the price is way too high for service and produce!

This pub looks great but isn't. Situated opposite the areas biggest council estate it is over-priced and very boring, there is zilch atmosphere. How they stay open I really don't know. It's 3.75 for a pint and myself and a friend ordered sausage and mash - this was 10.50 and looked like a child had made it, they sausages were burnt and the chef had hidden the worst one under the mash!! I had been there previously and had a sandwich which had thick margarine in it but I decided to give it another go. The only good thing about it is it has a nice bit to sit outside when the weather is nice - thats if you like looking at blocks of flats. Give this a miss.

Well over 3 for a pint, and while it seemed well poured and well kept, I would expect it to be at that price.
Comfortable enough sofas on which to sit for a quick Sunday pint and a quick fix of Sky Sports News, but that's about it, as there's not enough character or selling points to bring me back on a regular basis.

Why put one of youngs so called "super pubs" in the middle of a council estates. Pints poured without care, would rather drink somewhere else

This Youngs pub only had Bombardier and Ordinary on during my visit. There was also an unused ale pump and a selection of standard and premium lagers. I found the barman that served me to be friendly enough, but the pub itself is totally devoid of any atmosphere and is more like a hotel bar. There is a plasma screen at one end of the pub which was showing Sky Sports News, but I saw no live sport advertised. There is also a dining area with set tables at the other end of the long bar past the high tables and sofas.

I cant envisage returning here again.

I agree with the last reviewer - overpriced, pretentious, rude staff and re-heated food.

Situated next to a huge council estate on one side and a small corner-shop tesco on the other. Rude, ignorant chef bullying the customers as they didn't like the food, prices extortionate, and the staff looked like they wish they could be anywhere else....The place was dead with less atmosphere than the local library! I wonder why!!!

Nice pub although a little on the bland side. Disinterested service.
