I used to live in this area and to be honest hadn't even noticed the Swan before. It's a cosy place inside with a lounge to the left and a bar to the right on entry. We chose the lounge where there was one other couple on an early Saturday evening. It was the quietest of the 4 Amblecote pubs we sampled and probably the worst of them. 3 ales were on - Pardoes Entire, Plain Ales Respect & North Yorkshire Mayhem. I plumped for the former and it wasn't in the best of condition. Nice enough pub. But they need to work on the beer quality and on getting a few more customers in.

4 hand pumps and two seperate bars.
I had a super pint of Archers Gold for 2.60 - very good value.

nice enough pub although pretty crap for ale (one pump and beer off) opted for thatchers gold(3,40)and ten pence more than the price list by the bar so be careful! Barmaid was fairly cute and service reasonable,as mentioned before this pub has an extensive long beer patio with lighting, sofas, heaters and music so the smokers will be happy 7/10

Quite simply, a cracking, pretense-free, down-to-earth local that I found instantly appealing upon my first - and unfortunately quite probably my last - visit here last week. Despite being an early week night the pub had a good number of drinkers on board, and although arguably a little intrusive, good music was being pumped out and this helped to cement the atmosphere quite nicely. I believe 3 ales were on, all pale, which is not an issue for me although one can say that this style is perhaps somewhat over-stocked at the minute. In any case, they were found to be on fine form and slipped down the hatch a treat!
The bar staff were lively but not precocious and I found them rather entertaining. They really looked like they were making the most of their shift. At one point when I was overheard asking why West Brom Albion are referred to as the Baggies, one piped up with "well I don't know love, but all I know is they're SHIT!" Crude, yes. Vulgar, I'm afraid so. But funny, and especially said in the local accent! Sometimes you need a pub that can strip out the frippery and get back to basics, without becoming a mecca for morons. The Swan seems to have managed it.
It also is notable for retaining its original 2-bar layout, although the rather twee and prissy flowery wallpaper in the left-hand bar didn't quite seem to fit!
Well done folks; don't ever change!

This is my adopted local. 3 ever changing guest ales, usually of a paler variety as that is what seems to go down well with the regulars here.

Great beer garden (if we get any sun!) friendly staff and locals and the new digital jukebox gets to play metal and smooth classics depending on who is in that night, and frequently all shades of the spectrum on any one night.

Doesn't ever get busy before 9pm except on a Friday when the weekly meat raffle attracts a few more in.

A genuine local with regulars who always welcome new faces.

This pub has no MILD so had to walk straight out. A pity really, the locals were very friendly and talkative as soon as I stood at the bar. No matter how nice the pub is I was there for the beer, no MILD for me so had to leave. Didn't have to go far just round the corner was the Robin Hood with Titanic MILD, one of its regular guest MILDS.
