Great pub with a great atmosphere, easily the busiest place, along with the Beacon Hotel, on Thursday 05/07/12. Really enjoyed the Enville Ginger and the Olde Swan Bumblehole, both well kept, and at the right temp. There was also a realy good selection of other beers.
Realy nice to see a pub that attracts people of all ages and brings them out on Thursday night too, in a very friendly and sociable atmosphere, rather than catering for the fickle weekend binge party drinkers.

Second visit as wonderful as the first; just a great beer house packed with cheerful drinkers. High turnover ensured that even the Enville (a risky choice) was excellent. Surprisingly overlooked by CAMRA branch trips to the Black Country as it's a classic.

I took my parents here today, on a Sunday lunch time. The beer was on terrific form. The Enville Ginger was better than I have ever tasted it, and there was a great selection of local beers- Old Swan Bumblehole, Holdens Golden Glow and Brough's Pale, to go with Oakham's Bishop's Farewell. We had complimentary roast potatos. My mum and dad (in their 70s) found it marvellous to go to a proper drinking pub- no children or diners. They liked the fact that the Black Country people actually talk to you (instead of looking taciturn/ threatening, like in Stockport where they live). The only thing letting this place down is the artex on the walls and faux Tudor beams. Great beer and a warm welcome. I recommend this pub highly.

Lovely friendly atmosphere. Good selection of first class real ales and a cosy fire on chilly winter evenings. A real gem!

Squeezed into the front bar around 10pm on a Saturday night, didn't get to see the rest of the layout, but will definitely return again to experience the whole of the Stump. Superb range of fantastically kept beers from a host of local breweries, lively chatty atmosphere and friendly barstaff. The mock tudor exterior of the building, coupled with the piece of rough land adjacent lulls you into maybe expecting something less, but step through the door and it's almost like stepping into another fabulous dimension.

A maze of rooms, traditional, welcoming and full of character. A rich variety of regional ales such as Golden Glow or Bishop's Farewell are guaranteed. Recommended.

I loved the rooms in this pub, and the corridor alongside the room with the bar type stools. Has a homely feel to it, and the beers were good.

As essential a visit as the Beacon. A superb, traditional multi-roomed gem, with a mixed clientele and lots of local interest. Superb beer range, and exceptionally kept. Should follow the Rising Sun as National Pub of the Year if there's any justice.

Locally known as the Stump and mentioned in the Dudley Real Ale Trail guide. On my visit it had a rare variety of local real ales but they never have a MILD. Otherwise a nice pub.
