Always pop in on any Fareham pub crawl as the ale is so cheap - no worries the last couple of visits - always a mixed range of ale on offer.

OK! It's a spoons but after I've signed on and need a cheap pint it's the best pub in the main drag. 6 ales on and all served well. I've been in far worse pubs (far worse) and staff know their stuff. Steak club, curry days etc. Even the carpets not as bad as some.

Not that great

Visited Saturday early evening, 14 Jan 12.

Although a Wetherspoon pub, it's one that was previously a pub so isn't a large barn. Sadly, this means that when it's busy, it's too crowded. We were there at 1900 on a Saturday and most of the tables were occupied and it was a bit of a meander to get through the tables to the toilet. I think the standard Wetherspoon table doesn't fit well enough in these numbers in such a small space.

The best thing about this pub is that it's Wetherspoon cheap. But it's not as comfortable as other examples and not somewhere I expect to visit again soon unless it looked half-empty.

I know this is the newer pub of the two Wetherspoons in Fareham however can get very rowdy and far too small.

Seems like I follow the 'infamous' alezilla around and where is he hardly finds anything good to say about pubs I keep visiting fine ones. 'The Crown' is one of the better 'Spoons' boozers and has keept the character of the old place. Plenty of atmosphere with real locals. The bar staff are knowlegeable and the prices great! So it's a 7 for me.

uninspiring JDW vehicle, saved only by real ale- The British themselves have chosen this as the future of their evenings out and therefore we will have noone to blame.... get's 4 for lack of atmosphere and typical MDF-based decor- all of these places are the same, its' just a question of which one you can stand

The better of the two 'Spoons on West Street, both because of the character of the building and because the Brew Dog Edge was magnificent.

Several good pints of various ales sampled and very good too and 1.95 a pint - nearly fell off my perch! Still feels like a pub unlike the Arthur Lee.

A gorgeous pint of Oakleaf was quaffed here, like the previous comments JDW have done a good transformation on the place,a pretty small but very tidy spoons offering, 7/10

Very surprised to re-visit this pub and find that Wetherspoons had taken it over. The surroundings are a lot nicer than they were (I last visited about 3 years ago), the food was the usual standard for the chain (fair value for money but not very interesting). Beer seemed good, nice selection of real ales made me sad that I had brought the car with me! Staff seemed friendly. Only problem was, they have the usual dreadful attitude to dispensing Lagers -all three pints ordered (at seperate times) were poured from a great height into a glass which was placed flat on the counter underneath. This had the predictable result of beating all of the gas out of the lager, which then went flat almost instantly. More training on this is needed for all staff, I think!

Went in on Sat 29 Aug 09 and was really pleased with the changes brought in by Wetherspoons. Not too busy, staff pleasant and friendly, decor very good and the expected beer range from a Wetherspoons. Better for a quiet drink and conversation than most of the other pubs in Fareham.

This .pub has much improved since its refurbishment by Wetherspoons. Management and staff are both polite and friendly, and this is now a very welcoming pub. Beer is also kept very well.

Has now been taken over by Wetherspoons.

Not too keen on this pub or the brass which is next door. There always seems to be trouble at that end of town. I no wetherspoons dont have music and the manager is a bit of a bitch but at least she keeps it in order and takes no crap off anyone.
