Pompey boozer of the oldest kind - last used the pub 30 years ago and it wasnt much different! Not a place for families if you get my drift, but good honest pub with live music. My ale was actually past its best but didnt complain so dont know what reaction would have been though barmaid very friendly. My mates pint of a different ale was perfect though.

Called in with a bunch of friends whilst waiting for a ferry. Can't comment about the music or food, but agree 100% with the overall remarks made by other reviewers. A good place to spend the last hour in England before hitting the Continent!

Slightly in need of refurbishment, the Admiral Drake sits on its own plot just near the ferry terminal and has a large car park. It's a slightly wild pub, biker-friendly and both staff and clientele could be viewed as scary by some people. Everyone I spoke to was friendly, open and pleasant, although although there was some robust banter from a very mixed bunch of people (Dr Who would have felt at home here), so it's not a pub for the faint-hearted. They have regular music festivals, they tell me, so it would be interesting to come back for one of those.
The beer was excellent. I tried Abbott, Hobgoblin and London Pride; all were beautifully kept and enjoyable. Great beer, great people, great experience, and I would happily come back when visiting the area or waiting for a ferry.

Superb pub, real ales were in good condition, freindly, cheap for the area, rock bands, what more do you want?

I have found this pub to be a really friendly fun place to drink...it has a really nice heated smoking area at the front.
I found the locals to be fun with different live bands on at weekends.
It is cheap to drink there and they always have real ale on.
The Admiral Drake has been a favorite of mine for a few years now and I will continue to socialise there for a long time!

FANTASTIC, That is all I can really say. It's a biker pub and when I go in there I look a bit of a misfit as I am as far away from a biker as you can get but every person in there made me feel welcomed. The nmusic is great and the food excellent.

Great atmosphere, good live music on Friday and Saturday nights. Great food during the day. Decent prices and a good selection of beers and ciders. real ales a speciality. It's a bike pub but alot of non bikers go there as the atmosphere is a pleasure.
