Just heard that someone I went to school with and have known for a great many years is about to take over here. Wanted to wish him luck and I am sure he will make a very good job of it. I'm not local so unfortunately can't just pop in for one however, if I'm ever in Brighton I will make a point of going in

Very good.

Had the boar burger ! Really tasty with a glass of Harveys.

Nice town pub with a local friendly feel.

In here last Saturday and a locals pub a bit over the top.
3 hand pulls with two for Harveys Best wich was quite odinary @ 3.40 a pint
The other beer being Harveys Old Ale.

Been here a few times now and have noticed that the pub has a distinct division of locals and visitors bar, the former being a bit shouty. No matter, it's always a nice place for a pint and some food - the exciting 'new' menu is far from exciting but was very attentively served by the staff, the younger barman who on this visit was very polite and industrious.

Popped in for a quick meal and a drink. Under NEW MANAGEMENT - some ginger Lion Man or something stupid.

New Menu, New Staff (lovely young woman looked after me perfectly) and the beer is better kept than before.

All in all, on the up!

Popped in for a half of Harveys summer ale which was fine having just completed a 4 mile run along the front to Brighton. Food menu looked interesting but not too many customers when I visited.

I liked this pub, nice relaxed atmosphere, and they do a mean fish n chips! Could do with more beer choice perhaps (only Harveys Best on for the ales) but overall its pretty good 7/10

Nipped in for an in promptu glass of ale and something off the clipboard. Yes,earlier contributors have hit bad days with the staff and today was my turn! Miserable Buggers at shift handover, I nearly appologised for bothering to come in. The food was OK, but only OK this time. I hope this down turn was an accidEnt or the result of a fullmoon. Igave it 8/10 last time, I am scoring 5/10 this time. Time to smile and remember the customers pay your bloody mortgage!

very fine ale, very fine food, bloody tourists are a pain though. Nice people, good locals, and the bar boss is a really good chap!

This is a lovely pub in a great setting. I've always had a lovely pint in here and generally the service has been good. I've only eaten there once and found the food to be fine.
Some of the previous comments don't put the staff in a great light, but staff do change and the pub will still be there well after they have moved on. It is a very nice pub and well worth a visit.
It's not for the pool/darts loving types, but one to take your lady to.

The perfect failure of poor hospitality smacked you upon entry. A shortage of choice was the concurrent theme throughout. The intial encounter with the staff (that being the manager) left me feeling like thunder this inn was definately a one drink wonder. The menu on a clipboard seemed to say it all...

"Service not included" I doubt it comes at all!

Nice place but.... a really dire pub going experience! Over priced food and drink, the worst food i've had in a "gastro pub" EVER! and absolutely terrible atmosphere. The "manager" was so miserable he'd be better off running a morgue!

Pleasant welcome and a fine pint of Harveys Olympic, served on a busy saturday afternoon, bar chap brought the latte outside to the table. Other pubs are pretty dire in this area, will check the food next time.

Top notch folk session on a Sunday afternoon. Friendly boozer with good service and food.

Lovely, fresh food with ingredients locally sourced apparently which is commendable. And not a jukebox, plasma screen etc. in sight...bliss

Full of parvenu snobs. Apart from that - its a lovely pub in a lovely village serving a decent pint of Harveys.

I had not visited this pub for about 3 years until 2 weeks ago. It has undergone a major refurb since last time I was there and we were pleasantly surprised by the friendly service and atmosphere and quite a cheap round!!

We recently moved in a couple of miles up the road and have possibly found our new local...

Went in there last Saturday afternoon and found the bar staff to be surly and totally non-welcoming. Only about 6 people in there sitting down and we still had to wait at the bar for service. Never again.
