Due to close later this summer. A much better bet than the miserable Brass Balance half a mile away which should be shut down instead.

Typical Wetherspoons - useful as there is a dearth of proper ale in Birkenhead.

Good choice of ales last night but my god this place houses some very strange old people.

I recently had a pint of a summer ale from the George Wright Brewery (can't remember the name of the brew) and it was perfectly acceptable and well priced.
The barmaid was friendly. However, it was late on a Saturday night and there were just a handful of old boozers in there. I popped in as I had time to kill before my last bus home. Not a place I would go out of my way to visit.

Yep full of old men daytime drinkers, really loud scouse barmaid shouting across the pub to her colleage and regulars, the 1.89 pint of guest ale was spot on mind due, 7/10 just..

Average age of the clientele in this pub is about 70. Not really the type of place to spend all night in but being a Wetherspoons, a good choice of drinks.

Full of old and moaning fellas, and its lucky if you get served within 5 minutes of waiting at the bar thats even when its not busy.

to bagheas - it does seem odd that no-one has reviewed the stork (price st, just off hamilton sq) - IMO consistently the best B'head beer pub (beer range & quality),plus beautiful old building - original blue glazed tiles, smoked brewery windows & mosaic floor) & a pretty friendly atmosphere. I'll go in the next couple of weeks & write a fresh report.

Nobody seems to tell that this is a Wetherspoons and I would reckon the best of the two in Birkenhead very handy for the bus station and one of the rail stations is quite close.
on the 2-3 times I have been their has been a guest beer on at 1.19 a pint and it was good, very busy place, food served, very crowded,it would seem to me that Birkenhead is a large town with no one wanting to tell people about the pubs

It's a bit like the bar off Star Wars (Mos Eisley?). Take your light saber with you and try not to annoy other life-forms...
