Went in here at lunch time on market day (Wednesday) and discovered that the pub was packed. Managed to find one tall table and two stools available. Just two staff behind the bar so a queue of customers formed. However our food arrived quickly. There were the usual oddballs common to all Wetherspoon pubs. Read about why the pub is called the Gold Cape.

No longer open to the public but instead just serves customers staying at the adjacent Premier Inn. No great loss.

The Johnny Pye, Heswall
No longer serves real ale which is astonishing for a Marston's pub.
Is now being run by young people for young people.
Open until 2am at weekends.
