Ventured back but my Doom Bar was horrible. The music was way too loud. A marked deterioration over two months.

Cavernous Wetherspoons with 10 real ales and bouncers. Staff were a bit clueless, and the air conditioning was too extreme. Seemed to be a lot of pissed people inside and out. Nevertheless my pint of Rebellion was excellent, and this is one of the better drinking haunts in Watford.

Well the last review tells you what its like in the evenings. During the day its usually the more refined of the two Wetherspoons but has an inferior beer selection - just one festival ale on yesterday during a busy Saturday afternoon. Having said that there is probably less call for it as the clientele is predominantly made up of lager boys and lunching girls. The presence of a large screen and a number of TVs for live sport attracts the former. I suppose its possible that the former attracts the latter.

Mate, This bar is THE BEST in Watford!
Let me give you a description of this bar.
The queues are never too long when you know the bouncer - also never get ID'd anymore - it has it perks.
First you enter and walk past many people that you can say hello to! Everyone is your friend in Lloyds - I mean, at least I know everyone in there!
After spending a few hours saying hello to eveyone I know, I then go to the bar. I dont even have to ask anymore! 2 Strongbows and Blackcurrants, 1 orange and vodka, and 1 double vodka lemonade and lime. This comes to 9.80 and I always have the correct change! After getting my drinks which only takes about 2 hours I often talk to more people, and then hit the dancefloor. Let me tell you, this place is the only place to be for music. If you like funky house, then you have to go here. There are so many big tunes. I love waiting for the drop, making sure I move everyone out the way, move my sweaty hair to the side in one big sweep, move my arms out wide and then skank away to some dutty baseline riddims. The DJ is amazing, personal friend of mine! Anyway, after I repeat all the steps a few times, I decide to leave and generally go onto Oceana but thats a different strory!

I feel the best way to prepare for this night out is to get a cab to Oxhey, use Julies straightners, then get into town approximatley 1 hour after saying I will be there in 10 minutes. I have ofcourse previously sprinted across the dome roundabout in crocs and shorts in the pouring rain thinking to myself OH MYY ITS FRIDAY *scratching head*

Also, I love just going into Lloyds to have a few cheeky ones with my friends and talk over the music that they play its never a strain to hear people talking whilst theyre pumping out some great music!

Decent pub for a beer and to watch sport on a weekend afternoon but wouldn't even go near it in the evening when the younger crowd take over. The beer choice can be limited but I like it better than the main Wetherspoons in Watford.

Only Abbot on tap ale wise, nice atmosphere and ambience. Now named "The Colombia Press". 8/10

The most popular bar in Watford, unfortunately often with queues to match...

Very Polite Doorstaff and far stricter on ID's than you might think...

Average age is probably 20...

The best place for cheap drinks

Generally full of barely 18s. They are 18 arent they officer? Probably the place to be if you're on the cusp of adulthood in Woffud

It's a typical Lloyd's No1. I can never understand why the place is always busy - the service is slow and the music policy is non-existant but they are always busy so they must be doing something right

Used to love this place when it 1st opened. Full of same people every week. not been for a while but there was always a lot of shoving, long wait for the cheap drinks and lots of stairs to the loos. Also massive queue to get in come 8:45pm!!

Used to go here alot straight after moving on from the 'Moon' (Under Water). Haven't been that often for a few months though as I've got a bit bored of it. Hard pushed to find a seat, and may have to queue for a while to get a drink (no where near as bad as the Moon though). The music is good, and I like the general feel of the place. Usually full of students, as the drinks are cheap.

cheap drinks but never enough seating!! as always.
Good way to start the night but can get quite boring when queuing for drinks (15mins +)

full of kids on any night, not for people of over 21 !

kevin you must have only ventured into 1st 1/2 of the bar - there is a 2nd seperate non smoking area to the rear with its own ventilation system - Dom - bar manager!
Dominic - 26 Jun 2004 06:00
A fair range of draught ales plus bottled and draught lagers.
Lunch time food is good and prices reasonable.
Non smoking area much too small and only seperated from smokers by rope barrier. Non smoking area should be much bigger and shielded so second hand smoke does not permenate the area.

Striking post-modern interior
Plenty of offers on drink
Excellent conversations
Totty central (both sexes)
Comfortable leather seating
Vibrant atmosphere

Well worth trying out!
