A comfortable and welcoming bar with good selection of food and drinks

Nice place.

Well, I'll have to admit my previous review was based on a visit some while back, and I hadn't been keen to repeat the experience. I popped in at the weekend and was pleasantly suprised. 2 good beers on offer - Doobar and St Austell Heritage. Comfortable with a good atmosphere. The menu looked good/reasonable, tho' I couldn't comment beyond that. Worth considering, especially for women.

I guess this place is a bit like marmite - you love it or hate it.
As a bitter drinker it doesn't really cater for me, tho' it's freat for lager drinkers. I'm not a great fan of the layout. The ambiance is pleasant enough. It always strikes me as a place for the girls.

I really disagree with last comment. When in Bath, I often visit this bar early afternoon. I have always found the staff exceptionally friendly and efficient. It's a great vantage point to look out on the prospect of Bath. They have a great range of interesting continental lagers, all served in their correct glasses, and, in my opinion, they are by no means over-priced in comparison to other bars.

Plastic pub with plastic customers. Fine if you like over-priced Contintal Lagers and dislike atmosphere.

I'm a regular at this All Bar One and its a fantastic place. Very conveniently located for all the sights of Bath - righ next to the Abbey. The staff, make an extra effort to greet you and ensure you have a good experience. The girl who i think is the manager is welcoming and very good at her job, The food is above the normal pub grub - lighter, with a broader choice and very tasty. The wine and beers range, although not cheap, but where is nowdays?, also good.
Great buzzy place to hang out, meet up with friends, see some rugby players perhaps. Highly recommend it!

Can't say I am a big fan but it seems to do something right - it is always busy when I walk by. I am not adverse to continential lagers but the prices are a real put off.

Have been forced to go there several times for after work drinks etc. I hate the place. Full of wannabes. Stay away!

Have to agree with previous posts. No character.
A bar rather than a pub. Still, it seems to get plenty of punters in. One for the ladies perhaps.

It's an All Bar One! That says it all. Don't go.

No domestic ales, just expensive eurpoean 'imports'. Flashy and can become a bit soul-less. There are better places in Bath

if you fancy sitting in an aircraft hanger on long benches with strangers this is your place. Good food and beer a plenty to be found elsewhere.

Expensive with bar staff in silly uniforms. They used to give you your change on a silver dish. It's full off toffs and wanna-be jerks.I haven't been there for years and will never return.

The only places I know of doing draught Schneider Weisse (few others dotted around London apparently).
jimmyknee - 11 Dec 2006 14:33
...but fantasyic range of beer, which is th main marker for me.

Under 21s are banned so unfortunately will have to wait a bit to tick this one off our Great Bathonian Pubcrawl list! I can hardly wait...1/10 for being so pompus.

Quite why we went in here I have no idea, and I have no intention of every going in again. The only decent this was the Erdinger. As to the rest... well, you could be anywhere in the country. Very disappointing.
mhanley - 6 Jul 2006 13:41
Nonsmoking which is a plus for some and the wine is good if that's your bag and they've tried to make it cosier recently with a few lamps and a bit of chintz, still too cavernous for me though.

Nothing more and nothing less than you would expect from an ABO really. I guess its comforting for visitors to be met with a familiar brand name and know they are not going to have their heads bitten off by mad West country locals but if its atmosphere you're after go to the Pig and Fiddle, Saracens Head, Bell or any number of other Bath pubs

When Bath has so many interesting, enjoyable and quirky pubs why come to this chain pub? Just look around on this site - within a two-three minute walk there are several interesting Bath pubs that are everything this pub isnt

Bath is pub heaven - Why on earth go here?
TheGP - 17 Feb 2005 16:25
Standard All Bar One fare. Do have Erdinger Weissbier - always a good thing. Recently banned smoking - sadly a reflection on the way things are going in this country.

looks like a photoshoot for a dull model no atmosphere and very pretentios..... sorry!
sandy - 20 Aug 2004 12:18
Come on. It's All Bar One what do you expect? It's pricey and 'girl friendly' i.e. noisy and warehouse shaped.
