Busy again Saturday lunchtime . My friends ate here and rated it highly. 3 Beers on ,plumped for a decent pint of Fursty Ferret.

Excellent pub. The food quality and service is absolutely excellent (at a very fair price too) and is largely served in the left hand room where possible so diners don't get in the way of drinkers which can so often be annoying in a pub. In that respect the White Hart trumps the pretentious gastro-pub type places hands down. Beer quality is good, although being the Hall & Woodhouse range, no darks on offer. Oh well, can't have it all I suppose.

Good choice for lunchtime meal, especially the two course 6.95 menu - excellent value. Couple of decent pints of Tanglefoot to wash it down - other Hall & Woodhouse beers available, plus Stowford Press cider (half) for the driver. Friendly and welcoming staff. Will visit here again.

This is a good eating pub, 2 courses at lunch time for 6.95, menu changes regularly, offers always on, friendly staff, evenings just as good and if you have large party going the chef will consult with you over the menu. A month ago I was part of a party of 16, could not find fault anywhere.

A Hall & Woodhouse (Badger) pub I have to admit I wasn't expecting much when I went in. However we had a very friendly welcome and our kids were made welcome too. Had a pint of the Hopping Hare which was excellent. We sat up in the restaurant bit due to our kids but the atmosphere around the bar was good with lots of people having Saturday lunch or a drink. Just shows, don't write a pub off from the outside!

A traditional town pub with superb food and excellent beer set in a fantastic old building. This place will appeal to a variety of people as it has a lot to offer and space to offer it in. I had an enjoyable afternoon working my way throught he four beers on tap - by far the best (if a little pricey) was the Lemony Cricket from Badger. The reception was amusing, with a very pleasant yet bumbling barman, some strange local characters and good conversation to liven up the day.

Definitely worth going back and tying in with a visit to the Digby Tap.

As the owner of a holiday rental cottage I am often asked to recommend a pub with good food. The White Hart is one I can name with confidence and is the one most favourably commented on in our visitors book. I have recently had a two or three meals there myself and have never been disappointed. Visitors comment on both good food and value for money as well as a welcoming and pleasant atmosphere.

Hello Mickey Mouse

Your reviews on this pub are a bit harsh my friend.
A pub is how you make it if you dont come over friendly then you deserve the same back. I wonder if you came in when i owned the pub i would love to know. The Digby Tap is a lot bigger than the White Hart but, no comparison. It was both restaurant and bar when i had it and it worked very well, i made the back room into a restaurant and did very well.
As for the people they were very friendly. don't know about bar staff, perhaps they have had a bad experience over strangers at the bar, that order and then run off without paying who knows! Anyway give it another try and put your views to the staff.
Take Care

I was the landlady of the White Hart in 1985 and was then a lovely pub full of nice people, i had the skittle alley built whist there although i dont think its there now we used it as a restaurant as well and the pool table was housed in there. The back room was named as Brendas room and was opened by Rick Wakeman and his wife Nina Carter (page 3 Girl).
Perhaps somebody will remember me and would love to here from anybody
I do here from Debbie and Celia and Len now and again, but would like to here from Steve Dyos and Terry and Dino with there news please pass this on to any one who knew me GOOD PUB

Will give this pub 3rd place (Behind the Digby Tap and the The Crown) on my recent 10 venue tour of Sherborne. It was quiet (Monday lunchtime) but for all that, pleasant. I had Tanglefoot, I think, and it was well presented.

This pub has improved immensely over the last year or so. Now it's really busy a lot of the time. Lots of special offers on food. Cod and chips, buy one get one free on Fridays, really lovely. Drinks reasonably priced, the managers and staff are friendly. One of Sherborne's better pubs.

This has always been one of Sherborne's better pubs (and I can remember back to the days when Ken and Ann were in charge in the 1960's). Mind you, Sunday lunch wasn't magnificent, although the beer was good. One of the barmen seemed a bit too pleased with himself, and the other one needed to keep his shirt buttons done up! Perhaps the landlord/lady needs to exert a stronger presence? Never mind my moans, still one of the better Sherborne pubs.

The Phone Number has Changed to 01935 817668. The food is now very good and all home made. They have just reached the Final of the Best Pub Food in Dorset.

Quite a good town pub (for Sherborne) - we usually kick off here when touring the town's pubs and have been known to stay for several pints when the Firsty Ferret has been in tip-top form. Food is reasonably priced and good pub grub but the menu is a bit pedestrian.

Not a bad pub. Reasonable food (cooked rather than neuked in a microwave) The beer was hall & woodlouse but not bad. Bar man (manager? owner?) seemed to be stressed out for no particular reason, but other staff worked around him.
Generally ok

The pub is changing hands again according to rumor.. and looking good.. the pool table and darts are gone.. but the atmosphere is getting better again.. for those of you who knew the original staff and are wondering how things are to my nowlage everyone is happy. (excuse the bad spelling)

Taken over by a chef, food I saw was quickly served, beers were in good condition. Large no smoking near the front door, saves a trip through the smoke to get the fresh air.

Food leaves alot to be desired, the amount of choices on the blackboards screamed FROZEN, gave it a chance anyway as i was with elderly relatives, but was very disappointed. I got the feeling the Landlord did not really care
