I seek solace and relaxation with a good ale in an atmospheric pub. I spend time in Bristol , the Westcountry, Switzerland and the US so most of my contributions will be about watering holes in these locations.
I lament the death throes of the traditional boozer and loath the dirth of plastic food pubs and poser bars. I like my beer well kept served with a smile and in good company. Not much to ask for is it. Cheers! Dick Stilton

Called in here on a recent crawl of Bath and kicked myself that I even bothered with the other pubs. The Bass was like wine, it was almost a religious experience just being there. I could have stayed all day but the barman was keen to lock up after the lunchtime session. To his credit though he did alow us one more pint and was patient whilst we supped it and savoured every drop. Surely the mecca of pubs.

Called in during a recent crawl in Bath. Totaly bland pub and the beer was all together average. Wont be going back.

Old Rooms Inn, Weymouth
Called in with the family on a recent stay in Weymouth, actualy our second go at this pub and although the service was a bit slow and the barstaff a bit disinterested the food was quite good I thought. The ale wasn't bad but a tad on the pricey side and although they pretend that it isn't this is realy a restaurant in a pub setting. There are worse places in Weymouth though believe me.
