I have just returned to Jersey after taking a wonderful trip back to the Isle of Wight to show my father the changes over the years. We returned to the Vines where in the 50's & 60's we used to go with our late mother when on holidays. My father remembers the pub from childhood which as he is 87 years young was some time ago.The peole were friendly and food was wonderful and chef and barman were great with my father who is rather slow in pace now. A wonderful pub with wonderful people in it. Thank you to one and all for our special memories of such a lovely family eating and drinking establishment

Fairly large house with a partially-obstructed view of the village green. Quite quiet on a weekday lunchtime visit.

The rear of the pub is a typical local, and opens out into a large room past the bar. At the front are two dining areas looking out onto the street and perhaps aimed at the tourist trade during a weekday. As an overnor, I know my place, so ate my ploughman's here - decent portion, fresh salad.

A friendly lady served me a pint of Ringway Best in good condition. Other pumps offered Greene King products.

Handy for the no.8 bus to Ryde or Newport - once you work out which stop you need.

Visited this pub last week, can't comment on the food as we didn't stay to eat. There was an old male (wore glasses) who was very rude to us within 5 mins of us being there!! Complaining about how much he had worked, was rather aggresive towards us. After this, instead of continueing to work he sat at a table with his mates drinking and chatting. He ripped into us in front of everyone in the pub for no reason what so ever! It's not the customers fault if you're over worked is it? Seems as though he needs to work on his customer service skills. We left rather shocked and disguted. After speaking to a few people this week, I have been informed that the same male has been rude to many of his customers (eg. throwing their change at them). We will not be returning. Even if he is the manager/ owner, he has no right or need to treat his customers the way he does. He ruined our enjoyment of the beautiful village.

Had just about the best conditioned pint of London Pride that I can remember. Friendly and welcoming pub. Just how it should be - doing the basics well.

Popped in a couple of times when on holiday. Beer range was always changing and in good conditon. Good live band on Fridays. I would give the food a miss though.

I popped in last Thursday evening when it was rather quiet, and enjoyed a drop of Otter Ale and some Ventnor Golden. Last night the place was packed with people eating and also those there to listen to the band that was playing. This is a friendly pub that seems to manage to cater for several different sections of the local community as well as the Overners (i.e. holidaymakers). The food seems to be more ping-cuisine than haute but dont let that put you off.

Very pleasant pub. Visited on a Saturday evening, very much enjoyed the beer, the food and the atmosphere. The staff were really friendly, even the dog got biscuits.

Now under new management (April '06). Great ale, good, honest pub food (try the Steak in Ale pie) and a wonderful collection of breweriana.

Visited the Vine on the 12th February. Very busy with food and locals. Good varied food menu, prices reasonable. Will visit again. J Sculler

This pub has just been refurbished and looks great.
I have not eaten there myself; however several friends have and enjoyed their meal.

Like so many of the islands pubs, this pub, with its mall lounge and large, shabby looking bar with pool and darts looks as if it belongs in the 70s or 80s. The friendly locals and good beer help to create a good experience. Visited July 04, voted 8
