Ain't Nothin'but the Blues - this is a great blues music venue, small, intimate, chilled, though yes it does get busy later on in the evening. There are normally several real ales on tap and I've never been disappointed with their quality. Adnams seems to predominate, normally supported by another ale.

Whilst rather small this does add to the atmosphere of the place, and this pub was number 7 of the day so can't actually remember what the selection of beers was like, but I seemed to enjoy it. It was open mike when we were there and we stayed through several decent acts. Great atmosphere, everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Would definitely recommend this place.

Very pleasant evening in here, strong lager, great music, can get busy later on...

Had a very enjoyable time there last night. Great music, friendly atmosphere though a little busy.

Open mic from 4pm Sat, get in before 3pm to get cosey and a good pozzie and feel superior to the mugs queueing outisde from about 6pm. Fun.

A great little place. Try to get here before 8pm and you'll enjoy some chilled out blues, some nice guest ales, plus a genuinely inviting atmosphere. Unfortunately quite a lot of people appreciate this atmosphere so it will get busy quickly after 7pm, so try and be in early, and enjoy the music.

A personal favourite. Plenty of character, and much to appreciate from the mainly amateur players here. One day I may join in....but then you'd have to grade this place down two scores :o)

the chat was racy but it never overstepped the mark. Nice murphy's and massive, cheap g & t's served by interestingly decorated bar staff.

smashing boozer.

LOVE IT!

Gets packed, but that's part of the appeal.
Every time I've been i've had a great time.
My advice - Get there early and stay there late.

Actually called "Ain't Nuthin But..", this is my favourite bar in London. Ticks all the boxes - good beer selection (including guest ales), decent food, happy hour promotion, great live music (and humourous host), late licence, and loads of character. Only opens at 6pm, so if you leave work at a reasonable time and go straight there, you're sorted for a table, meet happy hour, and beat the cover charge that comes in around 8pm. Fills very quickly though.

Great place; can get a little crowded and you may have to wait a while to get in but it will be worth it. Great atmosphere and best of all live jazz all night - you can't ask for more than that !

Went to the Blues Jam at this bar bands. Got up and sang 'crossroads-cream' 'honky tonk women- rolling stones' and 'red house- jimi hendrix', it gets a bit packed and is a small venue but never the less there is a mixed crowd and a good ambience in the place

yeeaaahhh, this is what i'm talking about, what a wicked place to have a drink. No messing blues is the order of the day, with live bands most evenings. Try to get there early as it gets very busy especially on the weekends. Good meatballs, well kept beers and music to get you hollering through the long hot night. Not big enough by half!

What a bloody marvellous little place this is. Had been to a gig last summer with a mate who'd insisted we came here afterwards - but he couldn't remember where it was... Spent ages wandering around London looking for it but when we eventually found the place it was WELL worth it. Very late bar, excellent live music, nice beer, great crowd. Now seek this place out whenever I'm up in town for a late one and can handle the night bus home. Highly recommended but not to too many cos it's not very big so it'd be good to keep under wraps!

A bit pricey for a pub but you get a gig thrown in for free. The music is of a very high standard with people like Big Joe Louis and bands like the Barcodes. It gets cramped and smokey but the beer's good, the music's great and it close enough to Oxford Circus tube so getting home afterwards is no problem.

too small

A great bar/venue that is quickly becoming the place to go in London. Located behind Hamleys on Kingley St this excellent live blues venue has all the atmosphere of a real juke joint to be found in the US, but in the heart of London. It's free before 8pm so get there early, especialy if you want to get a table at the front by the small stage. Great beer, Excellent live music, fantastic atmosphere. The only downside is that it gets crowded real early.
Not to be missed..

Yes, this is a great bar! Superb atmosphere. Btw..for those who like good live blues I also recommend Thursday nights at a bar called Jazz After Dark in Greek Street, Soho.

Other nights of the week have all sorts of jazz acts...but on Thursday they have a live blues band from 9pm til very late. Seen them a couple of times now and it was a great evening. Very relaxing, fantastic music.

Come here all the time, whenever I can.
The ONLY venue in London with live Blues every night of the week. Also, free every day before 8:30. Considering the quality of the music, this is incredible. Some of the best gigs I've ever seen!
Drinks are expensive (pint of broadside around 3), but what do you expect from a live music bar behind regent street? Well worth it if you ask me.
Anyway, if you want some of the best blues you can ever see live, go Friday or Saturday night. Friday it opens at six, but all the tables will be occupied by 6:20 so be swift! Saturday is also cool, opening at noon with open mic from 2:00pm and a band in the evening.

Had a great night here after closing time in the Red Lion. Top live music, and a great atmosphere with very friendly and lively locals. Price of a drink was quite high (2.90 for a pint of Pride), but what do you expect from a Central London bar with live music?
Will be back for sure.

Brilliant, if small, Blues Bar.

If this place was just a tiny bit larger, itd be the most popular place in Soho...
CockAlex - 2 Jan 2005 13:48
Very nice, extremely effective atmosphere. If you can get in, its a great night out!

Extremely entertaining bar, small but lively that's if you can get in! Best Blues I've come across in London
