Thomas More, Wapping

Dreadful, soul-less place -- great if you like loud football and short pints. I have never been served a full pint there, and have stopped going as a result. It seems to be company policy.

St Georges Tavern (The Caxton), Wapping

Sorry, I agree with the miseries below. Worst pint of Guinness I've ever been served -- most of it froth, poured down the outside of the glass.

And the place looks like a second-hand funiture store.

Having said that, there's little decent competition around. Forget the Safeway Arms (Thomas More) and -- if you have the time -- head for the Turners Old Star in Wapping.

Turners Old Star, Wapping

Honest, down-to-earth local for people who like chatting to strangers rather than enduring a barrage of television. Brian The Landlord and Roy The Fish, an almost-daily regular, are a great double act -- but they often insist on you drinking beyond your limit. Take everything with a pinch of salt -- and don't forget your sense of humour.
