The Gardeners Arms, Higham

Recently been taken over by people who do not know how to run a pub. Absolutely shocking service at a Sunday lunch time - rude landlady, RnB music blasting out of the speakers and tables and chairs so packed in that it felt like we were eating at a soup kitchen.

Rose and Crown, Wrotham

A fairly quiet pub but serves the most amazing home cooked food!! If you're ever after a lovely quiet wholesome dinner, be sure to pay a visit to this pub.

The Cock Inn, Luddesdowne

Excellent local pub. The ales and cider are spectacular. It's cosy and atmospheric and boasts lots of war time pictures and photographs on the walls. It's 18+, which is perfect, simply because screaming kids and children running around is not what you want if you want a quiet cosy drink! It's great in the summer and it's gorgeous in the winter. Definitely have to visit.

Railway Inn, Cobham

Definitely wouldn't come here out of choice. Strange atmosphere, doesn't have the nice 'pubby' feel I like and it has the most dingy restaurant I've ever known. The food is O.K, but nothing spectacular. Although I must say that they do sell good ale.

Ship and Trades, Chatham

Not a lot of character at all but the Sunday lunch is very nice. Nice views of the river but that's about it. But food wise, it seems to be very nice indeed and the beer is good.

The Chequers Inn, Aylesford

I've never been to this pub any other day except Sunday so I cannot comment on the general weekday atmosphere, but if you're going to visit for a good lunch, please please go on a Sunday. The carvery roast dinner is, undoubtedly, the best roast dinner I have ever had. (And I've had many!) It was recommended to us by some friends about two or three years ago so we thought we'd try it out, and we go back about once every six weeks as we just can't get enough. The excellent chef makes up about five or six varieties of vegetables to choose from, the potatoes are simply amazing, and the gravy must have a special X ingredient as it's just so nice! In fact I need to stop writing about it now as I'm dreaming of it and it's only Wednesday! I can't wait that long!

The Man of Kent Ale House, Rochester

Great little pub. I've only ever been in during Sweeps festival, but every time I do it has a great atmosphere and some great bands! You'll love it if you like good ale/wine and a bit of folk music.

The Old Neptune, Whitstable

Excellent pub. Unfortunately every time I've visited whilst I've been at Whitstable, it's always been tipping it down with rain! So we come running in, dripping wet, to a buzzy, welcoming atmosphere. During the summer it's often difficult to get a table inside but the beer and wine are excellent, food is very good and it's all in all a lovely old pub.

The Smack, Whitstable

A shocking excuse for a pub. As soon as we walked in, the atmosphere was wierd and unwelcoming. The landlord was sitting at the bar in his vest top and was extremely rude. If you're reading this because you're looking for a great pub in Whitstable, then please, go to the Neptune!

The Red Lion, Freshwater

Love this pub, have to visit every time I come to the island, and usually save it until our final night. The fish and chips are to die for! I come every year and I am never disappointed. Deserves to win an award!

The Highdown Inn, Totland

Undoubtedly one of the best pubs on the island. It offers an extensive menu, fresh produce, amazing quality of food and a truly friendly and welcoming atmosphere. There's a good choice of ale and the wine is superb too. I come to the island every year and always visit the High Down Inn at least twice for dinner during my visit!
