Christophers Martini Bar, Covent Garden

A very cool bar for that special drink or two to start or finish the night off.
Situated not far from where the Strand and Waterloo bridge meet.
Excellent Martinis and cocktails, though they do serve some bottled beers and wines most people seem to have a cocktail glass of some sort.
Low level jazz, low level lighting.
Not cheap, but pretending to be Sinatra or Dean Martin for an hour never was...

The Assembly, Tower Hill

This pub has a ceiling like you would find in a multi storey car park.
The accoustics suffer and as a result everyone has to shout to be heard over the din.
Food is pretty good and you can see the kitchen, so they have nothing to hide.
Beer is normally well kept, though they do suffer from the overseas staff habit of failing to comprehend what constitutes an actual pint. Frequent requests for top ups can get a bit tedious.

Decent enough bar though and I have had many a happy night there.

The Antelope, Belgravia

Popped in here on a Friday evening.
Pub is tucked away just off the main drag out of Sloane Square and a cracking little pub it is.
Good range of real ales, a decent nod to the lager drinkers.
Central bar and lots of cricket related stuff from their long standing competition with the Churchill.

Well worth a visit if you are shopped out on the Kings Road.

The Queen Adelaide, Wandsworth

This pub is my "local" not my nearest as I have to pass 3 other shabby efforts to get here.
The food is good quality pub grub and the beers are the usual mix of Youngs/Wells with the odd guest thrown in.

The refurb, which is now about a year old has stood the test of time and the no smoking ban which came in in April (for this pub) has cleaned up the air.

Great for a lazy weekend afternoon or meeting friends for a pub dinner during the week.

The Ship Inn, Wandsworth

Good to see the publican uses food grown on his own farm. Very intrigued by the sardines comment, does he really grow these???

I love the Ship, we often end up there for lunch on a Saturday or Sunday (or sometimes both).

Quite often our trip there involves a quick refreshment stop in the "sister" pub The Alma.

Ship is riverside and has a wicked BBQ area outside.

DOes get busy after 2:30 so get there a bit before if you want to settle in.

The Bell, Cannon Street

Now under new management.
They have made subtle changes, slowly, which has lessened the impact on the pub character.

It now has wooden floors and a real fire. Ironic really, when you think that one of it's claims to fame is that it survived the great fire of London!

Beer is just the same and the pub has grown on me.

Good work.
