The Hawley Arms, Camden

Went in for the 1st time before a rehearsal at Scar Studios just around the corner. First impressions - rude bar staff who are really up themselves. I was polite but only managed to elicit a grunt from the girl who served me.

Before leaving I left a small amount of flyers for my band's gig on some tables. Having done this before in loads of pubs in Camden, it didn't cross my mind that it would be an issue. However, on leaving the pub I was chased down the road by a member of bar staff. He said to ask next time and then launched a string of expletives at me. Fair enough if they don't want flyers in the pub, but it costs nothing to be polite! Miserable, rude gits.

I'll be heading into the Elephants Head next time I am in Camden.

The Plumbers Arms, Victoria

Visited on a Friday afternoon for lunch & a pint before getting a train from Victoria station. Beer was very nice - I had a pint of 'Horn Dance'.
The food is horrible though. My 'Falafel Burger' was a soggy, microwaved veggie burger, which was served with a miserly portion of about 8 chips. My hubby's fish & chips was of a similar standard. When I ordered I was asked if I wanted garden or mushy peas with the fish and it turned up with neither!

The Old Mill, Plumstead

Yay for the Old Mill!! 'Tis the best pub in Plumstead. Andy & his good lady wife make you feel welcome with a good selection of yummy real ales. Andy's got verbal diarrhea, but he's a good lad and knows his beer.
The local people in the pub are on the whole very friendly & the beer garden is lovely in the summer.

The Plume of Feathers, Greenwich

Went here for the first time for a Saturday afternoon lunch with my folks. We all enjoyed the food, although my mum thought the fishcakes were a bit too spicy. The landlady asked why she didn't finish them and when we explained, she refunded the money for the meal without further ado and said she would talk to the chef. Very impressed with the food and service. Will definitely be back.

The Royal Standard, Greenwich

I have been to this pub a couple of times for the Karaoke. It is top notch... the staff and locals are welcoming and friendly and the Karaoke has a good selection of songs and a good atmosphere.

The Assembly House, Kentish Town

This pub has gone completely downhill in recent months. I work locally and have eaten in this pub about once a week for the last 2 years. In the last couple of months, the food has become gradually worse, but this pales into insignificance against the unbelievably rude staff (in particular the 2 ladies who work here in the daytime).
Cold, burnt food, which takes an age to arrive, served with an absence of cutlery and a crappy attitude.
Eat here at your peril.
