The Black Horse, Binsted

Well, a lot can change in a year. We visited to have a Sunday lunch. Only two ales were offered, Courage Best and London Pride. The Roast was 12, whereas most pubs charge 6-7.
This is more of a Gastro pub than a "proper" pub. The roast was fine.My bread and butter pudding wasn't done in the traditional way, served up in a square and was tiny. The creme brulee was tiny. Having said that they tasted good but were 6 each.
I couldn't fault the attentive service but I couldn't say it was value for money.

The Cliftonville Inn, Hove

As with all Wetherspoons I've visited, you do have to wait a bit(well, sometimes quite a bit) longer to be served. You can't have it all though,it's just such good value.
I like the breakfast. The Cliftonville's is particularly good.Noticably better than the one served at Brighton Marina, which is "OK".The Manageress on a Saturday morning is particularly welcoming, friendly and good at her job.

The Hangleton Manor, Hangleton

Recently taken over by Hall and Woodhouse, Badger Beers."Done up".Doesn't work for me I'm afraid. Although
the building is old, the inside has been done out in what I call "fake" old. Mixing contemporary Ikea style lamps next to "old" copper kettles.......NO!
But the worst part are the prices!! 3 for a pint of Hopping Hare bitter!!
Out of principle, I won't be back......3 a pint,they're having a laugh.

The Royal Sovereign, Shoreham by Sea

Sunday roast is excellent and the beers are good. When the smoking ban comes in I'll give this place a 10.

The Blue Cow Inn, South Witham

Needed food after travelling south down the A1 on a Sunday. Took pot luck and saw the sign for the Blue Cow.What a gem!
Good real ale,old pub with character and a friendly landlord who, despite saying he was knackered, was excellent.
I can honestly say this was the best Sunday roast I've had in a pub for a couple of years.Good value at 9 for two courses.
First pub I've ever given 10/10!

The Coach and Horses, Clapham

Visited for the first time today. Not what I'd call a pub, more of a restaurant,so Im not sure it should be on this site.Guess it depends on your taste but the place is done out in what I'd call contemporary old fashioned - it didn't work for me but my partner thought it was nice. The staff were friendly and helpful.Thought the roast was a bit overpriced at 9.50 and the drink was a bit pricey,3.50 for a Magners. The roast beef was really tough but the rest of the veg were excellent. We were asked how the meal was but as typical Englishmen we said it good.Apple and Almond tart with Amaretto was good

The West Quay, Brighton

On a previous visit I collected a menu and was told there was a half hour wait for food "Ok" says I. We made our choice and returned to the bar to order "No more orders I'm afraid, problems in the kitchen" says the barman.Methinks they were overloaded!
Tried again last Sunday, food arrived in 15 mins, excellent roast beef and my partner had the roast chicken. Massive platefull
,only let down was that there wasn't enough gravy. But hey! For 5.99 with a choice of drink included, who's moaning. One of the nicer Wetherspoon locations, great to sit outside and watch the boats.

The Green Jackets, Shoreham by Sea

Just shows how subjective things can be from looking at the last posters comments! We had a great meal in there at lunchtime last week.Barman was friendly, beer and food was excellent and good value.Came round to check everything was ok with the meal.I'd recommend it.

The Angel Inn, Upton Scudamore

Stopped at this pub on the way home from Bath. It's in the AA Pub Guide.
Beer was fine and the staff friendly. Really there for Sunday Lunch.Extremely disappointed with our Roast Beef Dinner,as were the three diners next to us. Two thin slices of beef, a Yorkshire Pudding with two small undercooked roast potatoes.Other veg. in dish were green beans(good) carrot and swede(One piece of carrot not cooked) and again, small portions.
I only left feeling full because they serve up fresh bread with it an I ate the lot.9.50 for that is extortion,my local does a wholesome roast for 5.95 and you don't need bread to fill you up!
