93 Feet East, Shoreditch

There's not a lot to recommend this place to be honest. The staff are aloof and not at all talented in the art of customer service, the drinks are really expensive, the toilets are absolutely disgusting. Only shoreditch Sh**heads and tourists seem to bother really and that worries me, that overseas visitors might think that this is what the majority of Londoners do of an evening.

The Archers, Whitechapel

This pub is my local.

Being at the top of Brick Lane, this pub gets a real eclectic mix of punters, from fashionistas, tourists, locals, and indie kids. The only real ales on offer are bottled.

I once heard one customer refer to it as "the Primark of pubs" because all draught beers are 2.50 a pint, surely the cheapest in central London! They don't offer food except the usual bar snacks.

There's karaoke on a friday night which is a really good laugh, even the old geezers give it a go, which lends the evening a Chaz and Dave atmosphere.

For those from outside London this pub may feel a bit 'edgy', however I can assure you that the locals are friendly and will make you feel welcome.

NB: The WC's are possibly the worst kept in London

The Lord Morpeth, Bow

A family run pub, with a Bob Hoskins look-a-like doing the Karaoke on a Friday night. If you want to visit a real Eastend boozer, this is it.

The Pride of Spitalfields, Shoreditch

I love this pub, it's a lot like the pubs I sat outside as a child! They do a lovely sunday roast which at 5 for lunch and pudding is a bargain. As previous posters have said, it is a bit like sitting in your nan's living room, with the lace curtains etc but it has a lovely atmosphere. There's always a good selection of beer on tap too. Beware, it's tiny and does get rammed sometimes.

The White Hart, Whitechapel

This is one of my regular haunts as they serve Hoegaarden and lovely food. You get a lively mix of locals, tourists and commuters, and the Juke Box is spot on. There's a heated smoking area out the back too.

The Castle, Whitechapel

This is the sort of pub where anyone will fit in. It has comfy sofas and shows all the big games on big screens. They have DJ's at the weekends and it gets rammed. Not a lot on offer for real ale fans though.

The Blind Beggar, Whitechapel

This pub lives off it's fame or should I say notoriety these days. However, it's got a lovely beer 'garden' perfect for summer's days and it does good food. It's always full of locals at weekends, and even in the winter it's welcoming with log fires.
