The Jolly Sportsman, East Chiltington

Having heard a great deal about the food, we dined here recently, the food is extremely good, but mean in size and very expensive. the beer is excellent and the service both friendly and efficient. A great pub for a special occasion, but not one for the ravenous!

The Anchor, Barcombe

My partner and I recently visited The Anchor for what will be the last time, we enjoyed a burger and salad , both unappetising and presented with soggy chips and one of the most fantastically unimaginitive salads I have ever come across. My moules mariniere was cold and served in what looked like dishwater, despite it being a lovely afternoon, with a busy garden, the brains of this operation had chosen to burn rubbish in the carpark, the smoke from which his patrons were forced to endure. The beer is good, so perhaps a pub for a pint, following a walk , following a meal elsewhere.

The Countryman, Shipley

My partner and I visited the countryman for lunch today, despite a friendly welcome we were both extremely disappointed with the food , which was both bland and poorly presented. When one pays 24 for a beef/noodle salad and a steak and ale pie, one expects something a bit special, This certainly was not. The taste left in my mouth was one of extremely expensive school food.
