Central Studios, Basingstoke

Although not technically a pub (more a theatre bar) Central Studio does provide a welcoming comfortable pre and post show environment with a compact range of bottled beers and ales. The manager's wine choice is particularly astute and the staff remarkably friendly and helpful.
Which is quite an achievement when you consider the staff at other local theatrical venues.
Not to mention prices...

The White Hart, Basingstoke

If you have ever been to this pub, you know what to expect.
Nothing ever has, or ever will change within these student-infested walls. Food is served. And beer.
That really is all you need to know.

Oh, and there are seats.

The Coach and Horses, Rotherwick

This pub is quickly becoming a Hampshire favourite! Finally got the time to pop in and try the food. All I can say is superb. An excellent meal (cooked to perfection) and my partner's lasagne looked equally sumptious.
Worth visiting for the tranquil view over the fields from the garden alone...

(And the pork scratchings of course)

The Coach and Horses, Rotherwick

A brief saturday afternoon visit shows the pub seems to be back on track with a charming and welcoming landlord taking time to get to know us and provide excellent service.
Beer was first class (good range of Badger ales) and pork scratchings were exemplary. We look forward to returning soon and trying the pub grub. Nice to have an alternative to the Frog & Wicket on the street.

Royal Oak, Fritham

Possibly the best pub in Hampshire bar none. A superb selection of ales, moderately priced, roaring fire and friendly staff and locals add up to a lovely evening. 10 out of 10

The Maidenhead Inn, Basingstoke

It's a Wetherspoons so you should know what to expect.
Old men drinking the cheapest ale on offer from 10 am and the usual mixture of unemployed and socially bereft denizens of Basingstoke on display in the smoking garden.
Food here can be particularly bad at weekends. Both service and quality.

The Happy Cheese, Ashurst

Although very similar in feel to a chain pub, the staff are exceptional and the beer is superb.
Food is fairly good too and prices are fair.
A nice stop in the New Forest.

Queens Arms, Basingstoke

Unfortunately, attempting to get food at lunchtimes is impossible due to the vast quantity of "suits" from the adjacent businesses clogging up every possible last inch of the place.
Lot of potential in the right hands.

The Bounty Inn, Basingstoke

Now that the despicable Dell has left this pub to waste more of his mother's money on ill-advised schemes, the regulars can return to the cosy, friendly hostelry they know and love. After being left in a proper shambles by the afore-mentioned harbinger of doom (including a starving cat trapped upstairs) the pub is being slowly re-established as a lovely place to meet friends and lose hours whilst enjoying well kept beers and a surprisingly broad range of whiskeys. All it needs now is a labrador asleep by the fire and it will be perfect.
