Rupert Street Bar and Cafe, Soho

This used to be a great pub to goto. Went in today with some m8's for a summer afternoons pint and a glass of wine & the service was terrible, it was all too much effort for the barman to pull a pint and he made it more than clear we were not welcome. When my friend challenged his attitude he just threw the empty bottle of wine he was pouring for one of us into the bin....... this is now typical service to expect in the once friendly gay bars in the area..... needless to say will not be going back again.

The Pembroke Castle, Primrose Hill

Not a bad place Primrose Hill (most of the bars around here are rubbish). The bar staff are usually very friendly and the seating is good. You get loads of characters in here(although this varies - somedays it can be full of snotty people) - The food menu is excellent - If your near Primrose Hill or Chalk Farm definately worth a try.

The Black Cap, Camden

This place is the classic case of excellent potential and not a bad makeover (the roof terrace is excellent!) unfortunately the service is too often unfriendly and factory like.Prices are standard (not cheap). Being Camdens only gay pub things should be so different! Unless living locally worth the extra time going to the west end bars or the Edward in Islington.

The Village, Soho

One of the better places to go on Old Compton Street. Good atmosphere and busy!. Drinks can be very expensive. Standing only at weekend and late night so get there early if u want a seat!

The Slug and Lettuce, Soho

Excellent during the week. Get a seat in the window (on Wardour Street), grab a lager and people watch! I had the best fish and chips I have ever had in this pub (if a bit pricey). Service can vary but the staff are usually very friendly. It can be very busy late at night and at weekends so get there early!

The Boot and Slipper, Amersham

Has the usual pub chain kind of atmosphere but the staff were very friendly and the fish and chips were'nt bad either. One of the better pubs in Amersham!

Comptons Of Soho, Soho

Worth a visit if in soho as usually busy and cruisy. Can be full so unless you get there early you probably won't get a seat. Service is usually friendly and good central stopping off point on your way around soho!

The King Edward VI (EDVI), Islington

Excellent long running gay pub. Great atmosphere. How the scene used to be before all the pubs were run by chains (Think its the only independent gay run pub in North London). Late opening, good food and friendly people. Try it!
