One of the best locations for one of the best places in soho! The Village is a cosy place with it's newly refurbished surroundings, the crowd is eclectic and friendly. The music is a blend of classic pop with the latest tunes mixed with some disco and house. The price of the drinks is what you would expect for a place in central soho, but they do have an happy hour from 16:00 untill 20:00 from sunday to thursday when their house spirits become £2. It's divided in three floors each one with a different vibe to it. The top floor it's a bouduoir perfect to bring your date for the evening enjoying a romantic cocktail while gazing at one of the most spetacular views of Old compton street. The Ground floor gathers two bars and it's perfect to meet new people or to bring your group of friends to share a bottle of fine wine and watch the amazing go-go dancers at the weekends. The Basement floor has a "clubby" feeling with a darker surrounding, D.J booth and mirror ball to dance the evening away. Definitly a great place to spend evening! peterpan79 - 24 Oct 2008 17:51
Right where do I start? You have a bouncer with such arrogance and self importance you get afraid that standing to close in the vicinity of him will suck you in like a black hole. I came here recently to celebrate my 21st birthday party and because I look young even for my age I was patronised like a child. One of the bar staff was rude and when I asked him a perfectly reasonable question he gave the rudest answer. The absolute rudeness of these people is unbelievable. When we say lapse in standards well what applies to here is lapse of giving a bugger. Avoid this cesspit. cwino - 13 Sep 2008 11:54
They've turned this place into a sort of beach bar, with a sandpit and bamboo skirting around the bar. Still, the bar staff are a lot cheerier and the prices ain't bad. My only gripe is that the interior still looks too much like a converted industrial unit, but other than that it's probably one of the top two gay bars in Soho at the moment. Even the toilet attendant doesn't harrass you any more. Just wish they would ditch the bloody go-go dancers. steve5312 - 11 Jun 2008 14:17
Gay bar in good music shock!!! I popped here last night and, blow me down, the music wasn't the usual garbage... some top notch soul... Smokey Robinson, Wilson Pickett, Sam Cooke and the like. More, Village, more... makes the extortionate drinks prices bareable. The staff, who have always been easy on they eye, seem more polite these days... they actually serve with a smile. Service can be slow (painfully slow), especially if the bar staff are in cocktail mode. This place gets a fairly bad rap (deserved in some cases) but its no worse than any other gay bar in London and a hell of a lot better than most. anonymous - 10 Oct 2007 12:11
